Cartoon Characters

It’s no lie that cartoons can lighten your mood. For years, cartoons have entertained children (and adults!).

Each era has had some popular cartoons, from Mickey Mouse to Ben 10 and Simpsons. However, some cartoons are iconic; they continue to be favorites even after years.

This article mentions the best cartoon characters of all time that will surely brighten your day.

Best Cartoon Characters

Mickey Mouse

Created in: 1928

Voiced by: Walt Disney, Jimmy MacDonald, Wayne Allwine, Bret Iwan, Chris Diamantopoulous

Mickey Mouse is one of the most legendary cartoons, and even a century later, he is a household name. Mickey was introduced to the world in 1928 in Steamboat Willie. He is a fun and adventurous mouse with characteristic round ears.

Tom and Jerry

Created in: 1940

Voiced by: William Hanna, Mel Blanc, June Foray, John Winfield Stephenson, Don Brown

Tom and Jerry are the perfect pair of characters from the cartoon series of the same name. Jerry is a mischievous mouse who plays with the cat Tom, resulting in hilarious situations. Despite being created in the mid-90s, Tom and Jerry have been a part of almost everyone’s childhood over the years.

Johnny Bravo

Created in: 1995

Voiced by: Jeff Bennett

Slightly different from the usual cartoons for kids, Johnny Bravo is a success among adults as well. A cool guy, slightly on the chauvinistic side, always praising himself, is one of my childhood highlights. However, considering the nature of the character, it might not have been received well by the audiences today.

Bugs Bunny

Created in: 1937

Voiced by: Mel Blanc, Jeff Bergman, Greg Burson, Billy West

Bugs Bunny is one of the most popular Looney Toon characters and has been adored by viewers for over eight decades. Despite finding himself in unfavorable situations, Bugs manages to outsmart his opponents every time. His catchphrase, “What’s up, Doc?” is an important part of his character.

Daffy Duck

Created in: 1937

Voiced by: Mel Blanc, Jeff Bergman, Greg Burson, Joe Alasky, Dee Bradley Baker

Talking of Looney Toon characters, how could we miss Daffy Duck?

Daffy and Bugs are often seen together in the series and share a bittersweet bond. He is usually the antihero but may seem more than just the villain in other episodes.

Popeye

Created in: 1929

Voiced by: William Costello, Jack Mercer, Harry Welch

Popeye from Popeye, the Sailor Man has to be on this list for his unique style and positive impact on kids. Popeye is shown as a muscular, healthy man and is known for eating spinach to get energy and encouraging kids to try green vegetables.

Bart Simpson

Created in: 1987

Voiced by: Nancy Cartwright, Sandra Schwittau

While each character of The Simpsons holds significance, Bart Simpson is one of the most prominent members of the series. Bart is shown to be a troublemaker and rebel but caring at heart. Without Bart, The Simpsons might not have been as iconic as it is today.

SpongeBob SquarePants

Created in: 1999

Voiced by: Tom Kenny

Seeing a sponge in pants was probably the last thing on anyone’s mind, but this cute and quirky character instantly became everyone’s favorite. SpongeBob’s humor and the ability to solve problems made the series quite popular among viewers of all ages.

Roadrunner

Created in: 1948

Voiced by: Paul Julian, Mel Blanc, Joe Alaskey, Eric Bauza

The Roadrunner show is another hit from the mid-90s that entertained kids throughout the 20th century. The interesting and brainy main character never failed to amuse the viewers with his speed and smartness, allowing him to escape from Wile E. Coyote every time. Also, who can forget his “Beep Beep!”

Wile E. Coyote

Created in: 1949

Voiced by: Mel Blanc, Seth MacFarlane

While Roadrunner is a popular character from the Roadrunner series, my favorite was always Wile E. Coyote. Seeing him and his ACME experiments always fail when attempting to catch Roadrunner would make you roll on the floor every time.

Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup

Created in: 1992

Voiced by: Cathy Cavadini voiced Blossom, E.G. Daily voiced Buttercup, and Tara Strong voiced Bubbles

Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, the famous trio from the Powerpuff Girls, are a must-mention on the list of the best cartoon characters. Each girl with a different personality had a unique power that helped them keep the city of Townsville safe. Blossom leads the group, Buttercup is the tough one, and Bubbles is the cute and innocent team member.

Pink Panther

Created in: 1963

Voiced by: No voice

Pink Panther is a cool panther who wants everything around him pink. Besides being a detective, Pink Panther is known for his witty and interesting activities in all episodes. Also, the legendary background music, a jazz composition by Henry Mancini became synonymous with Pink Panther.

Winnie the Pooh

Created in: 1926

Voiced by: Sterling Holloway, Hal Smith, Bad Luckey, Jim Cummings

Winnie the Pooh enticed everyone with his cute presence as soon as he appeared on screen. Also known as Pooh or Pooh Bear, Winnie is a honey-loving bear, who likes spending time with his friends. Children love this cute bear in a red t-shirt and his simple outlook on life.

Scooby Doo

Created in: 1969

Voiced by: Casey Kasem, Don Messick

Who knew a Great Dane could become popular in a series with all human-like cartoon characters?

Despite being a dog, Scooby-Doo is one of the most legendary characters from the Scooby-Doo Show. He is an important part of the Mystery Inc. gang that solves strange cases and travels in their Mystery Machine van.

Dexter

Created in: 1995

Voiced by: Christine Cavanaugh, Candi Milo

Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory made all the 90s kids wonder if they could also open a secret laboratory in their house like him. Dexter is a genius child with immaculate scientific knowledge. He experiments in his hidden laboratory that his sister, DeeDee, would often sabotage unintentionally.

Final Words

Cartoons are a favorite among children in all eras. However, some cartoon characters are iconic and continue to entertain kids through decades and centuries. Mickey Mouse, Winnie The Pooh, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Scooby Doo are among the most popular ones besides others.
