Once a prominent figure in the early 2000s pop culture, Hilary Duff has shared her thoughts on how recent documentaries changed her view of that time. From
becoming famous as Lizzie McGuire to starring in films and singing, Duff has been around in the
entertainment industry for a long time.
During Time100 Summit, the singer and actress confessed that documentaries like Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and Framing Britney Spears made her cry. “That was
a long time ago, but an out-of-body experience, ” she explained. “Actually, I get really
sad watching these documentaries as the reasons are quite evident.”

Hilary Duff has shared how deeply moving it is for her to revisit the early 2000s, the era when she was a child star, through watching the documentaries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and Framing Britney Spears. Both of the movies have shown the negative aspects of growing up under public gaze.
Duff acknowledged that many young stars suffered through very painful experiences, but for her, unfailing emotional trauma was not part of the package. “I actually feel very lucky that I wasn’t really put in so many situations that ended up being very damaging to me, ” she revealed.
The star also mentioned that she got her start so early in age that, in effect, she has been working as an adult since she was 9 years old. On one hand, it was not the kind of childhood where one could have the greatest fun like ordinary kids do, however, on the other hand, it gave the star a lot of priceless and memorable moments.
She talks about the effort and dedication
Balancing sacrifice with opportunities is what led Hilary Duff to fame and she thinks about it when she talks of her transformation from “a scrubby kid from Texas” to a worldwide star.
Although she gave credit to luck as a factor in her becoming a star, Duff stressed the fact that even luck needs hard work. She mentioned that physically she has been working in professional environments since she was a child 9 years old and she continues to work today. “I had to be able to hold my own in a room full of adults constantly, ” she said. She also told her fans that despite being sick or tired she was expected to stay professional at all times.
Such circumstances on the one hand demanded discipline and resilience and on the other hand gave her a definition. “It’s taught me very much and it’s totally made me who I am, and I love that person, ” Duff conveyed.
