Jeff Bezos is Putting His $500 Million Megayacht Koru on the Market as It Is Too Big to handle
Apparently, not even a $500 million megayacht can be a good deal if you don’t want the trouble. According to a person close to the situation, Jeff Bezos is discreetly putting up his famous yacht, Koru, for sale, the huge size of the boat being one of the main reasons for the decision.
The enormous yacht is also a $75 million luxury support vessel, Abeona, although it is not known if the two boats will be sold as a package. Operating the vessels together costs about $30 million annually, which is likely to deter most even among the super-rich potential buyers.
If they look past the figures, the yacht has apparently become too well-known for the Amazon founder’s taste. It even has a wooden mermaid figure of his wife, Lauren Sánchez, on the fo’c’sle, so no one will mistake it for any other craft. Besides, the ship is equipped with water guns for repelling pirates, but they can probably be just as effective in scattering the persistent paparazzi.

Bezos’ Koru Is Too Large for Monaco and Venice, Sale Discussions Are Reportedly Going On
The 417-foot yacht was designed with a nod to billionaire Barry Diller’s yacht Eos but at a much larger scale. This decision by the owner has leave a series of logistical problems.
Despite Koru being one of the largest sailing yachts globally, it is still dwarfed by David Geffen’s Rising Sun that is 453 feet long. According to a source who spoke to The Post, billionaires can suffer from “aquatic penis envy” however, in Bezos’s case, the bigger hasn’t always been better.
Jeff Bezos’ Koru Has a Record of Disrupting the Places It Visits
The back-end issues of Koru are not a fresh story. According to the New York Times, last year the huge yacht was not only too big for docking at the Florida Everglades but had to anchor near the least attractive oil tankers and container ships instead.
Besides, the ship in 2022 was the cause of heated disputes when it had to be handed over by Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco to Bezos. There were discussions on breaking down De Hef, a historic 95-year-old bridge in Rotterdam, for the gigantic yacht to be able to get through. The idea enraged the public and the local people protested the decision leading to the shipbuilders towing the ship without its masts rather than altering the cherished landmark.
