Jack‍‍‍ Lowden, the Bond fan favourite, is now considering a career as a director. ‍‍‍

Jack Lowden Addresses 007 Rumours and Directing

Jack Lowden was asked to speak openly about the fact that he is the ‘clear favourite’ for casting as James Bond, a situation he had been facing for quite some time since it became a final auditions situation last month.

The young actor from Scotland, Jack, who is already 36, told us he found it ‘very flattering’ to be in contention with Callum Turner and a third unnamed star for the James Bond role. But Jack thinks he is not meant for that direction, and so he is not going to be involved with it, at least in the way of getting an acting job on it.

Jack’s co-actor on Slow Horses, Gary Oldman, brought about the idea of a Bond connection by saying, ‘It’s been rumoured that [he’s] on the shortlist [for Bond]. We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we?…
‘Since they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So I’m holding out for Jack.’

When the journalist of GQ Hype asked Jack, the latter simply said, ‘It’s the most pleasant of flattering things. If any role is brought up, you are flattered to be considered for it. So I am not really adding to the conversation around it.

‘Jack is a nice person; that’s Gary, and it is especially delightful if someone you respect gives high praise like that on a matter about which you yourself don’t know if you want to talk about it or not.’ ‘If you are a young male actor, the tendency people will have will be to link you with the role of Bond; as soon as you are not playing some zany artist-type of guy, as soon as you put on a suit, flippant comments follow,’ he ‍‌‍‍‌said. “

Jack Lowden Opens Up About Fatherhood and Directing Dreams

In‍‌‍‍‌ talking about the idea of working behind the camera in his future career, he further said, ‘I think that his future career is really not in acting at all. It’s more likely that one day I will have made something of my own.’

In a similar tone, he also talked about the aspects of his domestic life that were most important to him – his marriage to his 32-year-old wife, Saoirse Ronan, and their first child, who had just been born, if it wasn’t already known.

Talking about the change of perception that happened through becoming a parent, he said, “Well, it occurred since my childhood that the thought of having a family and children would be a dream come true. After all, now I am a father!”

There are other parts that you realise you get as a parent – one is that your kid will be with you for the rest of their lives. – it’s a kind of sad truth – and suddenly, you’re thinking, “Oh my God, I have to be responsible for the life of a little child, while I’m only a child myself.”

It was last month that the news came out that Jack, Callum Turner, and someone else were the last candidates for playing the role of James Bond. All applicants completed the screen tests at Bray Studios in Berkshire. Fans of the Bond films have since claimed that, from the fact that only those three stars were the last screen-test candidates at Bray Studios, it’s not hard to figure out who the mystery star might be.

Thousands of 007 movie fans posted on social networking platforms, trying to find out who the unknown actor was. Among the names given, one that has appeared quite often in the list is Joe ‍‌‍‍‌Alwyn.

Jack Lowden Leads Bond Race as Fans Speculate Over Mystery Rival

The‍‌‍‍‌ actor has previously landed roles in Conversations With Friends, The Brutalist, and Hamnet – and supporters believe it would be logical should he get cast as the unnamed star in this project.

Jack, too, has been praised by audiences, and the bookmakers have set the Scottish actor at 8/11, as per the current prediction that he will get the part.

Callum Turner has odds of 2/1, while the rest are offered 16/1 odds.

Ladbrokes, the bookies, said, ‘The Bond race is apparently entering a decisive phase, and fans are heavily supporting Jack Lowden to get the role.’

He is already a favourite, and the latest rumors have resulted in an increase in support for him, with Callum Turner being his biggest threat. ‘Callum and English actor Jack and English actor Josh O’Connor were more recent names to be suggested, along with 29-year-old Australian actor Jacob Elordi, who is believed to have lost out on the role.

Confirming that the auditions were coming to a close, Bond producer Amy Pascal in August said, ‘My guess it will get to the tail end of the year at ‍‌‍‍‌best.’.

Amazon Sets Timeline for Next James Bond Film

Casting‍‌‍‍‌ in December gives Amazon MGM Studios a head start towards 2027 for starting the shooting of the next movie. Dune film director Denis Villeneuve – who will work on it -, and leaders from Amazon revealed in May that they had already started casting the movie.

Ms Pascal explained: ‘We have a very meticulous approach, almost a bit overboard, I must say. I have worked with Barbara Broccoli on the studio side and she knows how it works, I mean, Daniel Craig is a very difficult act to follow.’

Besides, it has to be a real standout film.’

Other leading personalities who were earlier rumored to have signed up for the assignment are The King’s Man star Harris Dickinson, and the likes of SAS: Rogue Heroes´ Jack Barton.

There are only half a dozen of actors that have actually stepped into the character of British Secret Service agent invented by novelist Ian Fleming in official film series – namely – Sean Connery,George Lazenby,Roger Moore,Timothy Dalton,Pierce Brosnan and Daniel ‍‌‍‍‌Craig.
