Rob Reiner’s Sister Supports Accused Nick Amid Prison Decline

Nick Reiner Still Has the Support of One of His Closest Family Members. Rob Reiner’s sister Annie Reiner has been supporting her nephew ever since he was accused of murdering his parents, film director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, who were found shot dead in December 2025, a source exclusively told Page Six.

“Annie has been there for Nick throughout the trial,” the insider said. “She has had his back no matter what, and that has undoubtedly helped him get through this ordeal.” A‍‌‍‍‌ spokesperson for the Reiner family did not immediately comment on behalf of Page Six. Meanwhile, Nick is at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Twin Towers detention facility, which he is using as his holiday detention center, and has been in his cell, away from other inmates, since the day he was ‍‌‍‍‌arrested.

Nick Reiner Reportedly Declining in Jail as Family Stands By Him

“A source close to the Reiner family told the Daily Mail that ‘Nick no longer looks like Nick.’ ‘He is rapidly deteriorating. You wouldn’t recognize him. He is almost completely bald, as they have to keep his hair very short to stop the bugs getting in, and he is also very skinny, as he has to take such a large dose of medication. His eyes are very sunken in,’ they said.

“Nick hasn’t been well for a number of years, but before his incarceration some of his old personality would come through, not so much now. He seems like a forlorn child, babbling nonsense most of the time,’ the source added. ‘It’s so bad his lawyers have difficulty communicating with him.’

Annie, 77, has kept a relatively low profile since the shooting, despite family and friends gathering for a memorial in her Los Angeles home one week later. Nick was arrested by LAPD officers on December 14, 2025, for the brutal murder of his father and mother, who were 78 and 70 years old, respectively, found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home.”

Nick Reiner Pleads Not Guilty in Parents’ Murder Case

The man is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances of multiple murders and personal use of the knife. According to Robert’s and Michele’s death certificates, both of them passed away within “minutes” of receiving the “multiple sharp force injuries” with a “knife, by another.” If found guilty, he was to face either the death penalty or a lifelong prison sentence with no chance for parole. The accused, who got into a heated argument with his parents at Conan O’Brien’s December 13 Christmas party, was diagnosed with schizophrenia before the homicide and had a history of drug addiction. Nick pleaded not guilty to the charges in February. Robert‍‌‍‍‌ and Michele, the couple, had been married since 1989. They have a 35-year-old son, Jake, and a 28-year-old daughter, Romy. Before he married Michele, the actor-director was married to Penny Marshall from 1971 to ‍‌‍‍‌1981. During their marriage, Rob legally adopted his wife’s daughter, Tracy Reiner, who is now 62 years old.

Jake Reiner Recalls Learning of Parents’ Deaths

Jake‍‌‍‍‌ expressed his feelings about his parents’ death in an essay that he recently published on Substack. “I was in Union Station, where there was a life celebration for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October,” he described in the caption on a photo. “Right before my eyes, I got a call from my sister Romy, who announced the death of our father. He had died. Soon after, Rody called again with the news of the death of our mother.” Jake mentioned that being driven for 45 minutes from downtown to the west side in a Lyft was just the start of the grief. “My entire existence, I thought I knew, disappeared. I felt nothing.

I had to comfort my sister and understand what had happened,” said the celebrity. When it comes to his parents’ death, the celebrity said he was “heartbroken.” “I feel robbed of a lot of things,” Jake said. “It’s very depressing and frustrating ‍‌‍‍‌simultaneously.”

Jake Reiner Shares Emotional Tribute to His Late Parents

“Nothing can prepare you for losing both of your parents suddenly and at the same time,” he explained. “It’s‍‌‍‍‌ been an emotional ride, and there are moments when I’ve been totally overwhelmed, honestly. It’s a morning routine, so to speak, when I’ve had to get up to remind myself that it’s not some bad nightmare that I’ve dreamt, but, on the contrary, that it’s really going on with me.”
Jake, in April, published a family photo, together with his parents, on Instagram and added a loving note to accompany ‍‌‍‍‌it.

“A week from today, I will be approaching my first birthday without my parents. I’m lucky to have had them in my life over the past 34 years,” he wrote. “In the last four months, I’ve learned so much about grief. I want to give a huge thank you to @iamdavidkessler for helping me get through the scary parts of this with me, along with my amazing friends and family. If you want to read my full essay, it’ll be linked in my bio. And for anyone experiencing grief and loss of any kind, I hope you know I’m here for you too.”
He then signed off with a message to his Aunt Martine. “To my aunt Martine, I love you. Thank you for being there for us.”
