Cam Bolton is on the mend after a bad fall in training just a few days before the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Australian snowboarder had to give up the men’s snowboard cross race on February 12, which the Australian Olympic Team made public through their social media.
During training in Milan on February 9, Bolton took a tumble. At first, he didn’t show any signs outwardly that he was hurt but he woke up the next day with such a severe neck pain that he immediately went to a doctor. After the scans, the doctor realized that there were two fractures so the patient was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Milan that had all the necessary equipment for the treatment.
The Australia’s Chef de Mission, Alisa Camplin-Warner, has additionally sent a message to fans through the media that Bolton, as he is about to start his recovery, is “well and fine”.

Cam Bolton and Lindsey Vonn Face Serious Injuries Ahead of Milan Cortina Winter Games
According to Australia’s Chef de Mission Alisa Camplin-Warner, Cam Bolton is in a great condition being looked after following his training accident. “Cam was concerned that his teammates might be worried and wanted to let them know that he is fine, well and is being looked after very well,” she stated to the press. “He is aware of how seriously we are taking the whole support around him and communication has been very good. I am happy with the level of care.”
Bolton is just one of the many athletes who have suffered a significant injury before the Milan Cortina Winter Games. Lindsey Vonn the alpine skier, was involved in a serious accident during the women’s downhill final on February 8. Vonn later disclosed that she obtained a “complex tibia fracture” that will require several surgeries to be properly repaired. Both athletes are going to have to put in a lot of effort if they want to get back to the game after these big blows.
Lindsey Vonn Reflects on Crash and Return to Racing with “No Regrets”
Lindsey Vonn, 41, who fell in the women’s downhill final, was lucky to survive a major one and was able to share the cause of the accident in an Instagram post with a video. “At that moment, I was only 5 inches too tight on my line and my right arm, hooking inside of the gate, turned me and it was the cause of my fall,” she explained her situation without blaming her previous injuries, which she denied contributed to the accident at all.
Vonn who was seriously hurt in the incident and before that had retired in 2019 only to make a comeback again, revealed that she has “no regret” returning. “Yesterday, being at the starting gate was such an amazing feeling that I will always remember,” she stated. “Just being there, having the chance to win, was already a success to me. I was also aware that racing was a risk. It has always been, and will always be, a very dangerous sport.”
