After being tag team champions for almost a year in 2020, it was time for Kenny Omega and Hangman Page to move on to single’s competition to reach stardom. With Omega and Page being fan favorites and their outstanding talent, it was inevitable for them to be the title picture.
Many have been anticipating a match between these two for quite some time. In a number one contender match to face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, both competitors left it all on the line. Considering there were no fans due to the pandemic, it was a solid match. With high-flying and intense back-and-forth action, Omega and Page pushed each other to their limits. Kenny Omega emerged victorious to earn a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
9. Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage Rampage 2021
With Kenny Omega being the AEW World Heavyweight Champion and the biggest heel in the company, everyone was coming for him, including the newly signed Christian Cage. The anticipation between the two Canadian wrestlers was already growing. Once Tony Khan added their match to the new show Rampage, everyone knew it would be special.

The Jungle Boy hype was real amongst fans in 2021. Becoming a top babyface was a huge accomplishment for this young competitor, so why not put him against the biggest heel in AEW at the time, Kenny Omega? Though it was only a short feud, Omega and Jungle Boy turned it into gold.
The thought of Jungle Boy winning the AEW World Heavyweight Championship was mesmerizing, especially since it would have been a great underdog moment. But Kenny Omega was not about to let that happen. Kenny Omega was relentless in his promos leading up to the match, saying to Jungle Boy that “there’s a difference between being a Jungle Boy and a Jungle Man.” Omega implying Jungle Boy was not ready to be the top guy, attracted major heat. Jungle Boy was instantly over.

Finally, after several months in the tag team division, Kenny Omega was yearning for an opportunity at the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. However, it was not going to be an easy task going toe-to-toe with Jon Moxley. Moxley was at the peak of his career, so Omega knew that extreme measures were needed in this one.
Everyone expected a heel turn from at least one of the competitors. To the surprise of many, it was Omega who turned heel towards the end of the match. After five consecutive One Winged Angels, Omega became the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion.

3. Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page Full Gear 2021
Going from tag team champions to bitter rivals in a year’s time, leading to the final pay-per-view of 2021, was unexpected for Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. Hangman Page was ready for another exciting bout with Kenny Omega for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Page was the odds-on favorite to strip the title from Omega.

Even after Danielson left WWE, nobody expected him to sign with AEW.

At the very first official AEW pay-per-view Double or Nothing in 2019, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho had the honor of battling for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. No other wrestlers were more deserving of this than Omega and Jericho. The two Winnipeg greats were about to steal the show.
