Kelly Stafford made light of a going viral hypothesis that the Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford died and was cloned, then back to the field for another season.
The podcaster commented on the situation after a missed practice for Matthew that caused a lot of speculation earlier this month. By spotting a Barstool Sports headline that screamed, “The Best NFL Conspiracy Theory On The Internet – Matthew Stafford Died A Couple Weeks Ago, Got Cloned, New One Is Now QB1 for the Rams,” Kelly made a joking reply—both mocking the rumor and implying that there is no uproar here.
Kelly Stafford Laughs Off Rumor That Husband Matthew Has a ‘Clone’
After posting a link of a Barstool conspiracy theorist article on her Instagram Story on August 21, Kelly joked, “I know there was something different about him.” She added a humorous touch by mentioning the Ammortal Chamber (a recovery device Matthew has been using) as a factor that made the “clone” possible: “that @ammortal_official is wild. “Firstly regarding the latest false narrative about her husband, Kelly Stafford responded sarcastically saying there can only be one Matthew Stafford because she knows him best. On the other hand, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford recently communicated that he went through “everything under the sun” to get back to top shape for the season after a back injury straining his recovery process.

Matthew’s Future: A Season of Speculation and Determination
“Doing everything I possibly can to get to a place where I feel as good as I can,” he stated during the Aug. 21 post-practice press conference. “Just really everything I could ever do, did a lot of research, just trying to assist myself.” A little later, he said, “The good thing is that I am feeling quite good. “After a year of constant speculations about his retirement, Matthew is taking a positive outlook and sees himself back on the field for his 17th season which is possibly his last one. Matthew, with the full backing of his family, stated in no uncertain terms that he is still a long way from retirement. “At least another year,” he said to Travis and Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast episode in March 2025, “I’m actually very fortunate to be able to make this statement and I really hope there is more beyond that.”
He is committed to self-improvement and prefers a gradual pace with the Rams.
