Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch Takes Home Miss Universe After Walkout Drama
Miss Mexico has received the recognition that she truly deserves.
On Nov. 21, Fátima Bosch Fernández was the one who got the lucky crown at Miss Universe with Miss Thailand Praveener Singh, 29, as first runner-up and Miss Venezuela Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser, 25, as third place.
Her route to the crown was not obstructed by any bumps, but she did get into a public altercation with Nawat Itsaragrisi who called her ”fooli” during a pre-sash ceremony for not allegedly fulfilling an obligation. After she was taken out by the security, the other contestants also decided to show their support by a walkout.

In an interview, which was originally in Spanish and later translated, Fátima Bosch stated, “I just want my country to know that I am not afraid of making my voice hearing, it’s louder than ever. I have a reason. I have things to say.” She shared the clip on her Instagram.
Referring to herself as a “doll,” she said, “You are not a doll, to be made up, styled and changed your clothes.” She emphasized, “I came to be the voice of those women and girls who struggle for the rights and to tell my country that I am totally involved in it.”
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Applauds Fátima Bosch for “Raising Her Voice”
Once Fátima Bosch got the Miss Universe title, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum didn’t hesitate to publicly praise the way she took her stand.
“I think it is an exemplary case of how women should raise our voices,” Sheinbaum said to the press, according to NBC News. “We women become even more beautiful when we raise our voices and get involved, because that has to do with the acknowledgment of our rights.”

The scandal of the year was definitely the Miss Universe event. It was reported by NBC News that two judges resigned with one accusing the officials of fixing the competition and the other warning a lawsuit.
The atmosphere of the evening also turned quite unfortunate when Jamaica’s Gabrielle Henry slipped off the stage during the preliminary evening gown category. As she was going towards stage left in a sparkly orange dress, she lost her footing and fell off the part of the stage that was raised.
What was recorded and later shared on social media showed the people that came to her rescue in a hurry before she was taken away on a stretcher.
After the mishap, pageant co-owner Raúl Rocha got in touch with the media to share the good news as well as encourage people by Miss Jamaica’s condition.

On Instagram, Miss Universe co-owner Raúl Rocha shared that he had just been to the hospital to see the lady in question, “I went to the hospital with her family and her, and luckily, she has no broken bones and is receiving good care. For the remainder of the night, she will be kept under observation, and we will be in contact with her family to her support,” he informed.
In a further statement, he said, “We extend our prayers for her speedy recovery.”
