Learning to sit with each feeling — even joy — amid overwhelming grief
While the 26-year-old, who is also the mother of a 6-month-old son Theodore, with husband Brady, admits that it has been extremely tough for her to let go and grieve, she also mentions that the most difficult part of it has been to allow herself to feel positive emotions. “One of the hardest parts of loss, aside from the loss itself, is to let yourself be happy again,” she said. “Letting yourself be without an emotion about every emotion. Just having that emotion – whether it’s sad, happy, angry, guilty, shame, hurt – and really feeling it and being okay with ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌it.”

Thankful for the help: how the stories of unknown people and the community have facilitated her through her bereavement
“I have really been shocked by the love, consolation, and support,” Emilie revealed in a September Instagram Stories posting. “So many of you sharing your similar experiences and your own stories of how you have dealt with grief and loss have been of great help to me.”
She also made a positive point about the net being a potential source of good rather than bad: “The internet is sometimes such a terrible place, and at times like this, it makes me see that there is still a lot of good in the support and community that we can all give to each ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌other.”
