Production Halted After Drag Race Star Misua’s Family Shares Tribute
Production of Drag Race has been temporarily halted to “support cast and crew during this exceptionally difficult time” following the death of Misua.
Misua’s family made a touching tribute on Facebook, stating, “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and close friends.”
It is still unknown what led to the death.
Misua, referred to as a “talented and deeply creative queen, ” was from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines’ southern region.
Her Drag Race profile states that her style was “grounded in fashion, artistry, and self-expression.” As a professional graphic designer, Misua was famous for producing almost every part of her drag, from garments and hair to nails, props, and visual content, displaying her excellent creativity and great attention to detail.
Misua’s Drag Persona and Legacy on Philippines
In Misua’s Drag Race bio, she calls herself “a proud member of Haus of LaFeya, ” a community of like-minded artists where she found the power to be herself and grow, share ambitions, and draw creative strength.
The name she chose for her drag persona was based on a noodle dish called misua, which her grandfather used to give her when she felt down, hence the name reflected her personality and the intimate feel of her art.
With her compelling looks, trendsetting style, and her irresistible aura that can be felt from afar, Misua was like a ray of sunshine, spreading happiness and positivity wherever she went and also instilling a strong desire to achieve in those she met.
For her, being a creative force was just one side of the coin. On the other side, she was a star, with aspirations not only to get the admiration of people but to motivate them to persevere and never give up on their dreams.
The third season of Drag Race Philippines was broadcast last year, Maxie was the winner while Khianna was the runner-up. Season four will be released later in the year.
