Janet Jackson Tells Radio Host She Doesn’t Like Giving Interviews: ‘Please Stop Asking Me Questions’

Janet Jackson Would Rather Be Silent Than Give Interviews

Iconic Grammy winning pop star Janet Jackson confessed she is not comfortable being interviewed during a radio appearance on Heart Evenings with Dev Griffin, Wednesday July 17. The singer at 58 said she would rather be quiet than answer questions. When asked by the radio host whether there were any particular questions that she was tired of, she replied openly saying, “I don’t mean to sound rude but I have to be true to myself on this one; please stop asking me questions”. This statement emphasizes her dislike for interviews.

“For instance, I’ve never given a good interview in my life,” admitted Jackson. “So you see—I’m not much of a talker and more of a listener when it comes to public speaking.” This confession draws attention to her shyness about talking in public and her preference for listening as opposed to talking. Despite gaining success and enjoying long years in the limelight, Jackson has always been naturally inclined towards being reserved while letting others take center stage. At this point, adding some humor into the conversation, she joked with a smile Don’t ask me anything else are we done? This jocular remark served to soften up an otherwise somber position on the matter while showing her ability to lighten up difficult topics through humor. It depicts her groundedness unlike other celebrities.

Janet Jackson is currently in the midst of the second North American leg of the Together Again Tour which will continue until July 30th. She will also tour Europe beginning September after concluding this leg until October 13th where shows are scheduled. As such, it shows how even if she does not like media interaction as an artist or as someone with feelings she tirelessly commits herself all year round so that people can just enjoy his art.

She revealed a lot of unknown pressures and discomforts that come with being famous lately. While some may think celebrities live for the glitz and glamour of the media, Jackson’s openness presents a different story. Notwithstanding her career’s demands, she remains faithful to her privacy preference and keeping off from interviews. Jackson’s frankness regarding how much she detests interviews could be something that most fans can associate with since they appreciate this authenticity in her personality. Her listening orientation rather than talkativeness is seen as a strong quality reflecting on the deep connection she has built with others around her out of self-reflection. This aspect largely contributes to her continued appeal and strong fan base.

The “Together Again Tour” has been very important for Jackson allowing followers to see her live and engage with her music on a personal level. Moreover, its continuation in Europe has shown the extent of its global impact and vast admiration it attracts. Those who will manage to attend these concerts should expect an unforgettable experience watching one of the brightest representatives of American showbiz performing on stage before their eyes.

Her decision to avoid interviews has not weakened her celebrity status but made it more profound. Thus, while continuing to tour and engage with her fans, Jackson remains a true artist who is both talented and real.

Leaving Out Family Influence

On Heart Evenings, Janet Jackson gave an account on some artists who have influenced her career. Although acknowledging the role of family members in molding her talent, she said that she also needed other sources for inspiration. One such person was Stevie Wonder, her cousin whose performances had a great impact on her life. “Seeing him perform was a huge inspiration,” admitted Jackson, thereby commending familial influence while admitting the need to explore more artistry from other quarters.

‘Earth Wind & Fire,’ as she recalls them left a significant impression as a child. When these brothers were going for concerts, this iconic group would often accompany them. One particular concert stands out in memory. “Seeing Earth Wind & Fire as a kid was just unforgettable” she reminisced. The band’s musicianship together with vast body of work left an indelible mark on her. This experience not only blew away but increased respect for their artistry and creativity that continues up to date.

The Influence of Prince

Another major influence in the life of Jackson was the legendary artist Prince. She recounted what happened during one concert when prince played some less known songs and left out some familiar ones. This experience defined how she views performing today, “If I ever perform on this level, I don’t want to do that. I want to at least do songs that people are familiar with, for sure,” said Jackson. Her acknowledgement indicates the need to choose popular tracks during live shows as this approach allows creating of connections with listeners.

Jackson’s discussions over influences reveal how much of an artiste journeying she has been. Hence, her family members along with Earth Wind & Fire and Prince have collectively influenced her approach to music and performance. In these ways, they have helped her understand better what it means to be an entertainer by emphasizing the significance of musicianship, audience connection and the timelessness of great songs.
