Alexandra Grant Reveals Her Potential Alternate Career If She Weren’t A Celebrated Artist (Exclusive)

Alexandra Grant shares what she would have done careerwise if art wasn’t the chosen path for her

Alexandra Grant is one of the artists who achieved great success. She said in case it was not for conversion to art, she would probably be in the wine business.

At an exclusive event, the launch of LOVE Wine in Los Angeles, the 53-year-old shared the memory of her fascination with wine back to the age of 12, when she had a summer vacation in Paris with her diplomat mother. Grant revealed that they spent the days roaming the city and the nights meeting up for dinner. Once at a restaurant where they had a set menu and wine pairings, it was through wine that she discovered the world of wine.

The artist, famous for her romance with Keanu Reeves, says that this moment was a trigger of the fascination with the subject that has remained there in her life.

Alexandra Grant Claims Her Childhood Wine Experience Led to Her Love of Wine

Alexandra Grant says her love of wine started on a childhood trip to Paris. That memory stuck, and years later, it pushed her to chase winemaking as a dream. She was 12, out at a restaurant with her diplomat mom, when wine showed up as part of the meal. That moment stayed with her.

She said she had imagined doing winemaking even before finally finding a way to pursue that passion through the Love Project, a venture linked to her grantLOVE foundation.

‍‌‍‍‌‍‌Grant made her winemaking dream a reality.

“I was like if only I could make a wine, I love wine,'” she said, likening the process to a ‘Goldilocks’ search.
Finally, she started looking at the leading figures of the wine industry, which made her admire Stephanie Gallo, whom she also highly complimented for her charitable work and the impact she has.
Grant also wrote a note she called a ‘love letter’ to Gallo, which lies in her Google files as an unsent draft.
The company set up a collaboration with the estate director, Nicole Hitchcock, whose work was greatly admired by Grant.
As a result, the collaboration was a linchpin for Grant to realize her winemaking dreams through the Love ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Project.

Alexandra Grant’s Wine Project Honors Female Figures in Art and Winemaking

According to Alexandra Grant, her collaboration with winemaker Nicole Hitchcock almost immediately evolved into a shared passion project that was rooted in creativity and collaboration.

If Grant had been interested in wine, she would have gotten into the different types of grape varieties, vineyard operations, the production of wine, etc. The two met each other, and, after discovering their mutual enthusiasm for the craft, they came even more prepared with detailed presentations for their first meeting.
“We did one of these ‘super meetings’ where we both made a PowerPoint,””” Grant exclaimed.

They wanted to shine a light on women in wine and art and actually support them, too. That idea became LOVE Wine, a California Brut sparkling wine they created with J Vineyards & Winery. The first bottle used label art from interdisciplinary artist Genevieve Gaignard. They’ve just dropped another release. This one has a label by Sonoma graphic artist Blanca Molina. Her painting pulls from both her Mexican roots and her California upbringing.

Acclaimed artist Alexandra Grant expressed her admiration for artist Blanca Molina as the creator of the newest LOVE Wine label, saying she “simply hit a home run.”
Grant mentioned that her intention through the art and LOVE Wine is to raise awareness of WOMENGRANTS, a program of the GrantLOVE Foundation, which supports women creators.
Additionally, she commented on how art and winemaking are very much alike, as both require creativity, experimentation, and even dealing with unexpected problems. ”You may be an artist or a winemaker, you are always ‘in the process,” she ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌stated.
