Kelly‍‍‍ Clarkson has a tiff with a New York City boutique regarding a £11,000 singing ‍‍‍bird

Kelly Clarkson in Pretty Woman Rowed With Brooklyn Shop Over £11k Bird

An‍‌‍‍‌ improbable argument is apparently simmering in New York as American Idol singer Kelly Clarkson confronts a Brooklyn boutique regarding a very expensive singing bird that cost £11,000. Such an exchange in words has made it all over the Internet, with about 40 million people having watched Kelly’s social media post where she spoke about her treatment at the Art of the store within just two days alone.

On Saturday, Kelly, who is 44 years old, alleged that a member of staff at a really good store looked at her as though she were not capable of buying the items in the store in that moment Kelly described as very similar to a famous scene from Pretty Woman.

The celebrity initially posted that she ”drove all the way to Brooklyn” to visit the store and had a few things in mind to buy. But upon arrival, she said she was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it.”

She‍‍‍ had just driven all the way to Brooklyn to inspect a retail outlet she thought was quite cool, with some items she meant to purchase. But her treatment at the store was a far cry from what she expected, as she felt looked down upon for not having the purchasing power and was even told the salesperson would get her a product equally ‍‍‍priced.

Kelly Clarkson Slams Brooklyn Shop Worker As ‘Idiot’

“Wow,‍‌‍‍‌ dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.”

“That was one of the things that stuck out in my memory about Pretty Woman,” she said to a New York Times reader and added the film, which stars Julia Roberts as a disheveled streetwalker who is disdainfully turned away from a luxurious department store scene in Pretty Woman. “But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Robert’s character in
“Pretty Woman,” she posted, ending her message with a thumbs-down emoji.

They came in droves with positive comments, whereas they criticized the Art Of Play store in the comment boxes of its social media accounts. “Those people who are saying ‘maybe he didn’t know who Kelly Clarkson was’ are forgetting the fact that their job as service providers should be to treat each customer as if every customer were the same person like Kelly Clarkson,” a user from X said.

One more user targeted a particular employee of the store, stating, “I have been a salesperson for most of my life, and the main thing I have learned is that you cannot judge people based on how they look.”
or what they are wearing because you have no way of knowing what kind of person is standing right in front of you—and what they have inside a wallet.

Another said about the establishment in general, “No one at all should be regarded as a person who isn’t good enough to get a luxury item…My wealthier clientele have been the least showy people I have had.” The proverb “Don’t Judge By The Covers” applies here. I mean,

The store, in addition, has received numerous bad reviews, which have pulled down its “a few months” back 5-star rating & ldquo;star rating down to & quot; a 3.7 average.” Fans came in droves to reply and support her while, at the same time, commenting on Art Of Play in the comment box of their social media accounts.

Brooklyn Shop Hits Back After Kelly Clarkson Claims Over Bird Mascot

The‍‌‍‍‌ adverse reaction led Art of Play to address the issue in a 259-paragraph Instagram post, with Kelly’s story being wrong. They had posted it on the weekend. They said that Kelly, who moved from LA to New York in 2024, asked them whether something really unusual in the shop, its store mascot Molly, which is a singing, dancing bird, could be obtained by purchase of that item (which is reserved).

“We are so sorry to tell you this: Kelly Clarkson came to Brooklyn yesterday to ask about buying “Molly,”” one of those special kinds of singing and dancing bird automats that you see on magic shows at this tiny theater tucked behind the shop.” “Molly is on a wall permanently and isn’t for sale. Nevertheless, Kelly’s bad experience, which she has narrated on Twitter, would have a lot going for people who judged negatively about feeling in a shop.”

“Our local business is such a small one that we were just shocked by a sudden onslaught coming from 8 million people who never even came to our store.”

“After a celebrity mentions a business, the business gets a lot of media attention, and it is a very odd experience to be a target of such widespread anger,” we were thinking. This situation made it a big deal for us but I hope this one mention of that celebrity will not be the one.” Thanked Art of Play friends for supporting us and welcomed all of the curious people who have found us in the middle of that drama. They concluded their post by referencing Kelly’s famous lyric, writing, “We will keep our heads down, and as hoped, maybe we could resolve the situation with Kelly.” As stated by a very popular and talented singer once, “What does not kill you certainly makes you ‍‌‍‍‌stronger”.”

Kelly Clarkson Accuses Brooklyn Shop of Lying Over $15k Bird Price Tag

That‍‌‍‍‌ wasn’t the end of it, though. A group of furious people on social media took exception to the lack of an apology and pointed out that even one of the birds in the picture has a brand with the price tag of $15,000 written next to it.

A rift was created when those who were for the store drew the attention of supporters through an Instagram post that was a pinned story with Molly the bird being used to inform people that the items were their favourite but not for sale.

While a newspaper was making a call for police to show up, they could see that the store was locked. A customer had a dispute at 2:30 p.m., so police went to 2735 Broadway, a store at the same location that the Daily Mail reported as Art of Play. As the staff were so afraid that they even locked themselves in the store, they got concerned about the disruption and called 911.

After a while, Kelly said once again via a post on Sunday that the store was ‘lying’ about the bird not being for sale. ‘ All I can remember saying is about a conversation where I asked you if it was being sold while we were pointing to the price tag that was on the wall and was titled Singing Bird, so you raised your eyes to the level of an elevator while condescendingly replying, “Yes, it’s for sale, but it will cost $15,000, so if you’d want me to find something comparable for you, it is my ability to do that.”

‘That all never happened,’ Kelly stated, showing only the price tag as the evidence that was being shared. ‘I think I’m not only being rude, but also that you are a liar,’ Kelly replied. Moreover, you should be told, in other words, that I am a proponent of small business, since just now I am a small business owner myself, and my purpose was just to get the products and to be friendly with other ‍‌‍‍‌customers.’

Brooklyn Shop Says Kelly Clarkson Rejected $2k Bird Offer

‘I‍‍‍ love small businesses and know they are important. I support them too. But even if you have your own small business, nobody gives you permission to [treat people] less that way.’ ‘That’s not difficult being kind,’ she said in conclusion, saying, ‘I rarely make public criticism. However, you are, my darling, a rare kind of person. The shop is pretty unique. But I have to admit you are a disappointment.’

Art of Play responded to ‘explain’ the issue with Kelly’s visit by posting a further Instagram message that evening. The company maintained that staff had told Kelly, ‘Molly is permanently fixed in the wall and functions as our shop’s quasi-mascot.’
‘Besides, there’s another copy of the robot very similar to Molly that the inventors of the machines, a very talented artist by the name of Bliss Kolb, who lives in Seattle, own. He mentioned he is willing to part with Molly’s twin for $15,000,’ they added.

Furthermore, the store revealed that the star was offered to view ‘a different singing bird automaton, by the way handcrafted by a traditional clockmaker’s workshop in Germany, that she could have brought home with her on that day. It is only roughly $2,000 in value, but sadly she left too hastily to see it.’

However, Art of Play did claim that they got in touch with Kelly in order to ‘mend fences between us.’ ‘We genuinely wish her the best and hope to be able to chuckle about this misadventure of ours some day,’ they ended, their hope. A play place called Art of Play was created in 2024. It’s their very first brick-and-mortar store, for a business founded in 2013 by twin brothers Dan and Dave Buck.

After the Buck Brothers’ magic card and card-trick act gained them a following, they started their business. At first, they sold their own card deck designs in the store, and later their establishment became ‘an emporium of all things playful,’ showcasing works by other artists.

Brooklyn Shop Defends Reputation With Positive Reviews Amid Row

The‍‌‍‍‌ duo, known by their stage names Dan and Dave, who performed their card tricks in the 2013 film Now You See Me, had their scenes edited to look as if it were Houdini’s character who was performing the magic tricks. The store, which was closed on the public federal holiday of Columbus Day that is celebrated on Mondays, had its crew use their day off, in particular the store’s social media, to re-share customer reviews and posts that were positive.

A loyal customer was quoted as saying, ‘This store is everything that you dream of. A store in a city that is getting more and more difficult to live in.’ The other statement included a fragment of a text saying, ‘I’m not really sure that the story the Clarksons are telling is real because I have been going to this store with my child many times, and I never saw them tracking anyone, not to mention that, if she was tracking, then a super famous person attempting to sabotage little businesses simply because she feels that someone was not very polite to her is quite a disgrace.”

The couple’s Instagram account also released a collection of promotional content showcasing their items and emphasizing that they have competitive prices and can ‘suit everyone’ needs.’

The median price of an item, the store mentions, is $35. But we are proud of our work with artists and making an amazing selection of curiosities for the shop that can’t be found elsewhere in the world. We have ‘something for ‍‌‍‍‌everyone.’
