Peter‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Greene, Notorious Pulp Fiction Character and Actor of The Mask, Passes ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Away

Peter‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Greene, Actor Known for Pulp Fiction and The Mask, Dies at 60

Peter Greene, the actor known for his roles in Pulp Fiction and The Mask, has passed away. He was 60 years old.
His manager Gregg Edwards confirmed in a statement that the actor was found dead in his apartment in the Lower East Side of New York City on Friday, Dec. 12. The New York Daily News reported Greene’s death first.
Edwards told NBC News that after music was heard playing in Greene’s apartment for more than 24 hours, a welfare check was carried out at his home. He had talked with the actor earlier in the week.
“No one could have done it better than Peter,” Edwards said to the outlet. “But he also, you see, had a gentle side that hardly anyone knew of, and a heart as big as gold.”
Green’s cause of death is still unknown. PEOPLE has reached out to the actor’s representative for a ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌comment.

Peter‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Greene’s Early Career and Breakout Roles

He appeared in an episode of the NBC crime drama Hardball in 1990, which was his very first onscreen role. After two years, he made his film debut in Laws of Gravity, where he played the role of a partner with Edie Falco.
The actor who was raised in New Jersey, gained the attention of the audience through his brilliant performances with a handful of characters like in Clean Shaven (1993), The Mask (1994) where he acted as the villain Dorian Tyrell opposite Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz, and Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994).
Greene, a prominent character actor, later went to deliver unforgettable performances in Kiss & Tell (1997), The Usual Suspects (1995), Blue Streak (1999) and Training Day (2001) in which he appeared alongside Denzel Washington and Ethan ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Hawke.

Peter‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Greene’s Later Work and TV Roles

Furthermore, Greene had recurring characters in the TV shows The Black Donnellys, Life on Mars, and Chicago P.D. In fact, his last acting credits are the John Wick prequel series The Continental (2023) and an episode of the TV series Dope Thief in 2025.
“He was among the top one of the most talented character actors in the world,” his manager Gregg Edwards said to Deadline. “He was a great friend, and he would even give you his own shirt. He was loved and will be missed.” ‍

‌‍‍Peter‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Greene Final Projects and Legacy

Edwards once said that Greene had two projects in his pipeline: Mascots, with Mickey Rourke, and From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID.
“One of Peter’s very last projects was very much a reflection of his concern for the need to make people aware of the worldwide deaths that are a direct consequence of the dismantling of the USAID by the administration,” Edwards told PEOPLE. “He was co-producing the film and also one of the narrators, Jason Alexander and Kathleen Turner, along with him, appeared in the documentary From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID.”
He wrote in an accompanying message to a GoFundMe page: “There is no better way to remember him than by giving him the support he would have needed to make more people aware of what is going on. “
According to NBC News, Greene had a sister and a ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌brother.
