Best Film Posters of 2020
There’s an old saying that goes, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The problem with movies, however, is that we often judge a movie by its poster. Let’s face it, posters are a powerful marketing tool. In fact, movie posters are usually the first bit of promotional material released for films. It gives audiences their first glimpse of the production; sometimes they offer clues, so we know what to expect, and usually, posters feature credits, so we know who was involved in making the movie.
The fact is movie posters operate an enormous place in our culture and the best of posters can embody everything great about a particular motion picture. And, like a movie trailer, a great movie poster can determine someone’s interest in watching a movie.
As I do every year, I keep track of every poster released that immediately catches my eye. And when the year is over, I sit down and decide which of these posters I think are the best.
Now before we get to the actual posters, I should explain that every poster you’ll see below is an official movie poster. In other words, I am not including Mondo prints, alternate screen prints, or fan-made artwork.
Keep in mind that this is very subjective, it is not meant to be definitive and the list is in no particular order. Enjoy!
