Colombian​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ singer Yeison Jiménez lost his life at 34 in a plane crash hours before the concert: ‘A beacon of hope for ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌thousands’


One of the biggest stars of the música popular genre, singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez, unfortunately, died very young at his 34th year.
According to the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (SAUCA), on January 10, an aircraft with the registration number N325FA crashed somewhere between Paipa and Duitama in Colombia. It was a tragic accident where all six people on board, including Jiménez and his team members, lost their lives.
On Jiménez’s Instagram, a member of his team confirmed the tragic news by posting a written message, which said: “It’s with great pain and grief that the team and organization of Yeison Jiménez express their deep sorrow for his death. Today, we are not just bidding farewell to an artist but to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being who was always full of dreams and hope and that by telling his story has inspired ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌thousands.”

The other victims who died along with Yeison Jiménez in the plane crash were Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel, Oscar Marín, Weisman Mora, and Captain Fernando Torres. The release of the statement sends “deepest condolences, absolute solidarity, and prayers” to the families of the victims for the difficult time they are going through.
According to The Sun, the plane, which is said to be owned by Jiménez’s company, YJ Company SAS, went down shortly after takeoff at four in the afternoon (local time). Jiménez was heading to Medellín coming from a point near the town of Marinilla for the performance that he was going to do in the ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌evening.

Weisman Mora, who was the photographer of Yeison Jiménez, shared a video on his Instagram Stories just a few moments before the tragic crash occurrence. The video came from the cabin of the plane’s front passenger seat and displayed the scenery as the plane was moving on the runway.
Video that The Sun got hold of shows the scene after the crash had happened. The plane was still on fire while lying on the ground. There were people in emergency attire running towards the site and one of them was seen trying to put out the fire with a fire ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌extinguisher.


Yeison Jiménez was one of the most popular figures in Colombia music scene, renowned for his tunes that fused traditional Mexican ranchera with Colombian roots. In 2024, he successfully sold out Bogotá’s Movistar Arena for three times in a row, and the following year, he achieved the feat of being the first Colombian artist to sell out Bogotá’s El Campín Stadium, reports Billboard.
The plane crash, which resulted in the death of Jiménez, is still under investigation by the Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation.
His wife and three kids are the ones who have been left behind.
