Influencer Dies in Livestreamed Ultralight Crash
Tang Feiji, a Chinese content maker, passed away at the age of 55 as a result of a crash with his ultralight aircraft during a livestreamed flight on Sept 27, several local media sources shared. While filming his flight, Tang, who was most followed on Douyin with almost 100,000 fans, reportedly went off control with his ultralight, CNS and Cover News stated.

Tragedy Caught on Livestream
Videos from various social media platforms showed Tang Feiji leaving his plane, aerial view of the plane going away, then got a sudden crash on the ground with a big fire. As stated by Cover News, the fatal event took place during a live broadcast that was attended by hundreds of viewers.
It has been reported by the local authorities that the car accident which took the life of Tang, allowed by a crash on the plane, however, they stated that the crash caused no harm to the nearby area.
A Costly and Risky Hobby
In previous videos, Tang Feiji mentioned that he bought the ultralight aircraft for 350,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately $49,000 USD). The single-seat vehicle was reported to have a weight of just over 250 pounds by the China News Service (CNS).
Feiji asserted that the plane could elevate to nearly 2,000 feet and go at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. Moreover, he stated that he managed to master the controls after only six hours of total training.

Prior Issues and Aftermath
After the crash, Tang Feiji decided to make his social media accounts inaccessible. According to Cover News, Feiji had revealed on social media that his fuel gauge on the ultralight had malfunctioned twice in 2024, and each time there had been a brief drop of the aircraft under 30 feet, which indicates that there had been some concerns about the reliability of the ultralight before the accident.
