Bethenny Frankel Reveals She Has Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease
Bethenny Frankel has been very candid about her health situation lately and revealed that she is suffering from stage 2 chronic kidney disease. She further expresses her wish that her revelation be taken as an inspiration by others to keep looking after their health.
During a TikTok video on Jan. 22, the Real Housewives of New York City alum said she had made the decision bit by bit over the last few months about getting on top of her health by regular screenings and lab work, including blood tests and bone density checks. However, there was a red flag going up against her.
“My kidney function was always coming up low,” the 55-year-old said. Since the results were the same over and over again, she finally decided to see a kidney specialist.
Frankel explained that during this visit she was informed that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease. She further explained that her doctor seemed fairly puzzled and uncertain about the cause and he gave a few possibilities ranging from a severe allergy attack she had years ago to an autoimmune condition—or even dehydration and not drinking enough water.

Bethenny Frankel has admitted that if anything, her behavior might have been a factor in her diagnosis. “I don’t drink water very often,” she told TikTok. “You know that I always carry a hydration packet. I’m holding a bottle, but I’m not usually drinking it.”
The kidney specialist told her that water has to be her first priority. He told her to drink at least one and a half liters of water a day and also warned her not to take ibuprofen, turmeric, and ice cream. On the one hand, her doctor mentioned that they would be looking to reverse the kidney damage, but on the other hand, he warned that it could be a condition which she may have to live with for the rest of her life.

After being diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease, Bethenny Frankel said she was lucky that she had made the decision to focus on her health first. Besides, she also took to her Instagram account to motivate more people to follow her example.
“I just wanted to tell you [that] it’s really important to go and get all your blood work done,” she told her viewers. “Everything. Do a thorough check-up. And then, if anything looks like a problem, make sure you do the follow-up for it.”
Frankel said kidney problem is only one of two health problems she has experienced in the year 2026. At the beginning of the month, she admitted to having a facial rash after her New Year vacation with her 15-year-old daughter, Bryn Hoppy (her co-parenting partner is Jason Hoppy with whom she is co-parenting).
