Marvel Actress Wai Ching Ho Dies at 82
One of Madame Gao’s actors from Daredevil and other Marvel series, Wai Ching Ho, passed away at the age of 82.
The sad news about the actress’s death was broken on Saturday, July 11, by her former “Daredevil” co-star Peter Shinkoda on social media. The information was also confirmed by one of Ho’s representatives to PEOPLE on Sunday, July 12. They published the message on the social media platform on behalf of her family.
“Her family is deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support and the many beautiful messages and memories people have shared about our beloved Wai,” the statement read. “Reading how much she meant to so many is comforting to us in this difficult time.”

Peter Shinkoda Pays Tribute to Wai Ching Ho
Among the hundreds of tributes, Peter Shinkoda shared his own memory about Zhang: “Just lost someone very special to me. She was one of the coolest. Thinking aloud. #Gao,” he wrote while captioning the post with the hashtag that refers to the villainous Marvel Comics character, also played by the late star in the series Iron Fist and The Defenders. A few days later, Shinkoda posted several photos with a Hong Kong actress, adding the caption, “I won’t ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set. I know wisdom—I’d hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful.”
She Died Peacefully After Stroke, Says Co-star
Actor Perry Yung shared his thoughts about the legendary thespian on Sunday, July 12. He stated that Ho “passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke two days ago.”
“I had seen her perform on stage countless times. I’ve had my share of dim sum with her, and she always came out to see @slantperformancegroup. I’ve even had the incredible honor of playing her husband (parents to @justinchon) in the movie High Resolution,” he added.
“Wai Ching was a kind, compassionate human being whose artistry raised everything she touched to a higher level, and we are all better for it. Rest in power, dear friend,” Yung concluded.

Mahira Kakkar Honors Late Actress Wai Ching Ho
In one of the latest tributes, actor Mahira Kakkar recalled Wai Ho as “warm, funny, caring, joyful, positive, and a truly wonderful actor.”
“For those of us who did not have many role models or mentors in our careers, Wai was one. I am deeply grateful that I had a chance to know her, and I am sad that she left us. She also utterly refused to speak ill of anyone. My dear Wai, you deserve all the standing ovations—what a stellar human and a stellar artist. What an example of how to live,” she added.
She performed in stage shows like an off-Broadway show written by Celine Song called Endlings, which is an upcoming work of hers.
