Presley Gerber died at 27 at a rehab facility
More information surrounding the death of Presley Gerber, the son of top model Cindy Crawford and the well-known Rande Gerber, has come to light.
According to the recordings obtained by PEOPLE, police were first called to the scene in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street, Santa Monica, Calif., at 9:35 a.m. A cardiac arrest incident took place, and later, through the other emergency dispatch message, the police were told to go to the scene of a possible overdose.
The Santa Monica shared, in their statement on Monday, September 21, that upon arriving at the facility, the officers found Presley, who was at the time 27 years old and living at a treatment center, dead. Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner records shared by PEOPLE also show that Presley passed away from a drug overdose at a rehab center while being treated.
Police: No Foul Play Suspected in Presley Gerber Death, Cause Deferred After Autopsy
Santa Monica Police Detectives continued: “The department is treating the case as a potential overdose case,” the police spokesperson stated at the scene of the death.
“There is no sign of foul play to this point,” the police spokesperson concluded.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will confirm the cause and manner of death.
The case is still under investigation. In a subsequent statement, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner stated that they were only starting to examine the case of Presley’s death and that very few details have been revealed at the moment.
The medical examiner’s office also reported that an autopsy was done on Monday. However, the report said that “the cause and manner of death have been deferred, which means additional testing and/or studies are requested to decide,” the spokesperson said.
Family Asks for Privacy as Medical Examiner Says Cause of Death Could Take Months
“Because the case is still an open investigation, [Department of the Medical Examiner] is unable to state what examinations and/or studies were ordered. In some cases, even a month or two may be necessary for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.”
The medical examiner has stated previously that Presley’s death, however, is still not officially attributed to what the medical experts call the true cause or what actually happened to the girl. Her comment said, “A death was certified at 09:45 hours on 20 September 2026 by paramedics from the responding unit, and the case is being investigated by the Santa Monica Police Department law enforcement agency.”
PEOPLE cited the family spokesperson as mentioning, “The family wants privacy at this very difficult and painful time.” Presley was very open in public and via his social media platform about discussing his mental health and substance abuse issues before his death.
Presley Gerber’s Last Public Appearance With Parents
On June 11, Presley made what turned out to be his final public appearance at the We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation launch event held at Aviator Nation Dreamland in Malibu, Calif.
Presley was in the company of his mother and father at the occasion. Telling the truth about the experience of being raised under close observation, he openly revealed that it was hard for him to live up to the image of himself that was expected of him and that he found freedom in being vulnerable about his journey. “It was just then that I knew the way was right,” Presley said.
Presley also stressed the importance of adopting positive habits. “No matter how you feel, move your body,” he said. “Get outside; get your feet wet by the sea,” he continued. “If you don’t feel like moving, lie on the grass.”

Along with that, Presley’s little sister, actress and model Kaia Gerber, gave her opinion publicly through an interview with Vogue magazine. In the interview, published right before one of Presley’s deaths, the celebrity discussed the topic of drug addiction that reportedly went on for about ten years.
It was Kaia who opened the topic, saying that such incidents within a family leave the whole family quite upset.
After that, she described how she decided to put her personal matters aside so that the whole family could focus on Presley. She added that, in fact, she identified herself as the one who is not hard to deal with; thus, she was never one to ask for help. “It is too much to feel like you have two kids who need you,” she explained.
