Nick Lachey Says He Bumped Into Jessica Simpson on a Flight 20 Years After Their Divorce

Talking​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Nick Lachey explained that they came across each other by chance on the flight to Hawaii when he and Jessica Simpson were planning their holiday ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌trip. It was the first time for them to actually see each other since they broke up almost 20 years ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ago. Host Andy Cohen asked whether the meeting was real, and Lachey confessed it was, even calling the experience “strangely okay.”

“You know it has been 20 years since… so we haven’t seen each other in those 20 years and then we ended up six and a half hours on a flight to Hawaii together, ” Lachey said, after which he added that by “spent” he only meant they were “same vicinity” during the flight.

Nick Describes Reunion With Simpson as Friendly and Civil

“All of us were very, very polite, very respectful, ” Lachey stated, mentioning that his family was on board too. He explained that he thinks Simpson was sitting next to her mom while her husband, whom she has separated from, Eric Johnson, and their kids were in another part of the plane. “Honestly, it was okay, ” he remarked. PEOPLE in April already brought up the reunion with a source pointing out that ex-spouses even exchanged a few friendly words on their flight from LA to Hawaii. “They all talked nicely. Nick, Jessica, and [Nick’s wife] Vanessa, ” the insider said. “It was very amicable and cordial.”
