The two It Ends With Us stars last Monday reached a settlement that surprised many because it came out of Lively’s December 2024 lawsuit against the 42-year-old Baldoni.
Still, Lively is demanding attorneys’ fees and damages from the director’s rejected countercomplaint in January 2025.
The A Simple Favor actress, 38, earlier stated that she should receive the attorneys’ fees and damages based on a 2023 Californian law aiming to protect the victims of sexual abuse from retaliatory litigation.

Judge Dismissed Baldoni’s Countersuit in June 2025 Didn’t Rule on Key California Law
While the judge did dismiss Baldoni’s countersuit last June, he didn’t make a decision on the applicability of the 2023 law.
At the same time, Baldoni’s legal team opposed Lively’s motion in October 2025 and contended that the actress’s filing infringed.
The It Ends With Us director’s team also questioned the applicability of the California law on the ground that the alleged sexual harassment incidents would have taken place in New Jersey, where most of the 2024 film was shot.
The unexpected settlement occurred just days before the case was due to go to trial on May 18 and shortly after a judge dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims.
Following the settlement announcement, Lively also appeared at this year’s Met Gala.

“We are behind the idea to bring to light, and making an impact on the

Page Six has found out that Lively and Baldoni, at the same time, spent around 60 million dollars over the course of their 18 months legal battle, but neither of them received any part of the settlement they agreed on.
In the meantime, both sides have asserted victory after the lengthy and costly litigation.
Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman, during his talk with *TMZ Live* last Tuesday, described the settlement as a “massive victory”. He further alleged that Lively chose to settle because she was “terrified” to testify at the trial.
Blake Lively Justin Baldoni team Reacts To Settlement, Calls It A “Resounding Victory” After Baldoni’s Lawyer Disagrees
“It was a great chance, ” he said to the magazine. “And I suppose you don’t say no to a great chance.”
Later Lively’s team went on to call the settlement a “resounding victory” for the *Another Simple Favor* star after Freedman’s statements.
“By conceding that Ms. Lively’s concerns ‘deserved to be heard, ‘ the defendants have forever refuted the false narrative that Ms. Lively ‘fabricated’ claims of sexual harassment and retaliation, ” they told Page Six last Thursday.
