Bill Gates has reacted to new allegations released in the latest batch of U.S. Department of Justice documents concerning convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview with Nine News on Wednesday, Gates explained that his dealings with Epstein were centred around philanthropic activities. “The emphasis was always, he knew a lot of very wealthy people and he was saying he could get them to donate money to global health,” Gates revealed.
The co-founder of Microsoft gave what the broadcaster called his “only Australian TV interview” while he was in the country for the Australian Open, which ran from Jan. 12 to Feb. 1 at Melbourne Park.

Bill Gates expressed regret over his association with Jeffrey Epstein and called the relationship “a dead end” with the benefit of hindsight.
“You know, looking back, that was a dead end and I was foolish to have spent time with him,” Gates said. “I am just one of many people who regret ever knowing him.”
When asked about the allegations in the newly released Justice Department files, Gates stated: “Clearly, Jeffrey sent an email to himself. That email was never delivered. The email is, you know, a lie.”
Gates went on to say: “I regret every minute I have been with him and I apologize that I did that.”
Besides, he completely refuted the claim of sexual misconduct on his part. “I was at the dinners only,” he said, “I never went to Epstein’s island, and I never met any women” he furthered that with time as more facts will emerge, it will be obvious that his association with Epstein “had nothing to do with that kind of behavior”.
The newly released documents reveal allegations involving several high-profile figures, including Gates, who met Epstein on a few occasions while discussing philanthropy.
Epstein Draft Email May Contain Allegation of Gates Infecting STD
One of Jeffrey Epstein’s 2013 draft emails conveys a very damaging message regarding Bill Gates to the recipient, Gates’ advisor. The email implies that Gates contracted an STD and asked for antibiotics to be secretly given to his wife Melinda without her being aware.
“TO add insult to injury you them implore me to please delete the emails mails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your penis,” the draft riddled with typos says.
In another part of the email, the writer refers to the recipient being “dismayed beyond comprehension” over Gates’ choice to “disregard our friendship developed over the last six years.” However, considering the context, it might be that Epstein is implying the recipient was disappointed at Gates’ reaction, and the email is a sophisticated comeback to him.
The draft is just one of the many Epstein-related files made public by the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday morning.

On Tuesday, Melinda French Gates mentioned that people who appear in the Jeffrey Epstein documents recently made public, among them her ex-husband, Bill Gates, should go on record to explain the allegations against them.
During her talk on NPR’s Wild Card podcast, Melinda (61) showed a lot of empathy towards the victims of Epstein. “I think we are having a societal reckoning, aren’t we? No girl, no girl should ever be subjected to the kind of things that the Epstein girls had to endure, and whatever it was that was going on with all the different people around him,” she elaborated.
She further described the matter as “beyond heartbreaking,” and mentioned that the victims’ ages matter to her since she herself was one of those age and she also has daughters of the same age. Melinda and Bill Gates got divorced officially in 2021.

Melinda French Gates said she finds it “personally hard” to hear about new details of Jeffrey Epstein. The couple got married in 1994 and got divorced in 2021. She has previously mentioned Bill’s association with Epstein as one of the reasons that led to their divorce.
As per various reports, Melinda started talking to lawyers about getting a divorce in 2019, which was the same year that the news of Bill meeting with Epstein repeatedly came out. This was against Bill’s previous public denials of his meetings with Epstein. The Wall Street Journal has disclosed that Melinda was worried about her husband’s business dealings with the financier, hence she decided to get a lawyer.
Bill Gates’ representative had told the Daily Mail initially, that what was described in the documents “absolutely absurd and completely false.”
“These papers only show that Epstein was annoyed that Gates was not in a continuous relationship with him and the measures he went to in order to trap and smear,” the representative stated.
