Wu-Tang Clan Returns to Las Vegas
People are all abuzz as the iconic Wu-Tang Clan is set to commence their Libra Season Las Vegas show series with two opening gigs at The Theater at Virgin Hotels. It has been a while since the group had performed, and fans were more than ready to welcome them back, especially after talking to members Cappadonna, Ghostface Killah, and Inspectah Deck during a recent interview, where they for some reason talked about their favorite shows and what fans can expect.
During the interview, they was asked which track they love performing the most together, and they all agreed: “Triumph.”.” Ghostface Killah claims that this popular song achieves great things both in them and in fans, however, he stressed out that every single song that they perform in their lives holds a different energy and significance on stage. While fans are already abuzz about their Las Vegas residency, Ghostface Killah dropped an even greater surprise: Wu-Tang Clan might be headed back into the studio. When asked about their plans for the coming year, Ghostface revealed that the group has something in the works and that new music could be coming “soon.”
However, he appealed fans to understand and wait saying that organizing the schedule of every group member is a huge task. Ghostface Killah remarked that, “Everybody has their own things going on,” insinuating that although the band members would like to bring out some new tracks together, the timing and coordination for this is a problem. Still, his remarks made many of the group’s fans feel that the new material from the legendary rap group is coming out soon.
Busy Schedules and Big Plans
Despite the promise of new music, Ghostface Killah accepted that there are a number of issues that the group faces in order to make any new project come to reality. Each one has another of their own work, of collaboration, or their own affairs which make it difficult to harmonize time. Still, as much as the Wu-Tang Clan still stands as one organization, they still have the zeal to keep doing their best for their fans.
With the Las Vegas residency imminently about to begin, and Ghostface Killah hinting a new album around the corner, it is quite clear that there are big things coming in store for the Wu-Tang Clan. Fans remain hopeful that, in spite of their hectic schedules, the group will still manage to find a window and come up with one more stunning album and thus shower praises upon them as one of the greatest hip hop groups.
While preparing for a Wu-Tang concert, one simply cannot shake off an impression of excitement that will cut deep into fans. This year appears as a good one for Wu Tang fans who either have had them for quite a long time or have just recently come to appreciate their music.
A Legacy of Hip-Hop Mastery
The statement was made by Ghostface killer, who is also one of the founding members of Wu Tang Clan, who looked optimistic about the forthcoming music of the group. He was heard in a very recent interview discussing how the making of music would be easy for the group. ”It’s gonna be easy, ‘cause this is what we do,” He said about the part of music that they love the most “The music, the soul everything … Hip hop never left us”. This illustrates how even after so many years, and so many struggles and differences, Wu-Tang Clan has remained true to hip-hop.
Even if completing the group’s new music may be perceiving as an easy task for them, the road for the group has not been free from different obstacles. Such comments by Ghostface follow the much advertised controversy with regards to Wu-Tang’s unique album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin. There was a time when the whereabouts of this unique album were unknown. Eventually, it ended up with PleasrDAO, a digital art collective that bought the album. However, this new acquisition led to another kind of outrage.
NFTs and the Album of Wu-Tang
In a bold move that many found insulting, PleasrDAO decided to burn parts of The Album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin – in the form of NFTs. This choice has split the Wu-Tang fandom and some group members as well. For most of the fans of the Wu Tang Clan, the album was regarded as hallowed ground, a body of work that should be listened to and admired in its entirety. The decision to tear this artwork and sell it as NFTs was perceived by some to be a purposeful abandonment of that idea. While some embraced the modern, tech-driven approach, others—especially long-time fans—found it disrespectful to the Wu-Tang legacy. This disagreement regarding the album release has not disappeared and has bred a curiosity among the fans in regard to the future of the album releases.
Even with all the chaos related to the Non-Fungible Token launch of Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, the rapper Killah Ghostface and the entire Wu-Tang clan haven’t lost sight of their music. This goes on even as the group grows and develops. As they hint at new projects and future albums, it’s clear that their bond with hip-hop is as strong as ever. According to him, making music is a matter of fact, and in that respect they have more classics in them, which indicates that the best of Wu-Tang Clan is yet to come. Because with them carrying on modern trends like NFTs and integrating it well with their old school tunes, the next phase of the Wu – Tang saga will definitely be as thrilling and unexpected as the previous ones.
Method Man’s Candid Thoughts
Interview with Vanity Fair in July, Method Man made some mentions about some of the apprehensions that he and some of the Wu-Tang members had with the highly derided One Upon A Time In Shaolin album. As revealed by Method Man, the way in which the album was introduced to the world after it was purchased by Shkreli and later seized by authorities potent became and remained an enigma to many of the group members.
“I thought perhaps it was just a show like in a circus,” Method Man admitted in the course of the interview. He revealed his displeasure that a part of the members of Wu Tang Clan had not been properly briefed on the release plan of the album and what would happen to it later on. “I don’t think I ever really talked to RZA about it, like that,” he went on to, adding that the issue is quite touchy within the group. “It’s a touchy subject for most of the guys so most times, we don’t talk about it,” he says. Method Man’s statements help to understand better the internal views and relations of Wu-Tang Clan and why the particular type of release of the Shaolin album caused discontent among the members.
Still, though, in the spite of some remaining issues concerning Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, the Wu-Tang Clan has been adamant to move ahead. With announcements hinting at an impending new record scheduled for 2025, the bloodthirsty fans are left hanging as to what new tricks will the legendary band showcase.
Conclusion
Ghostface Killah is optimistic about the future of Wu-Tang Clan which is indicative of the fact that hip hop is still relevant to the group. With people still hinting at more music, fans can expect the group building new foundations in the genre that has surpassed them. Although the dispute relating to the album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin and its subsequent NFT launch may have yielded some rift, it has only solidified Wu-Tang Clan as being at the forefront of altering the music scene and culture. It is clear to the audience that hip-hop is a culture that never peels off, and Wu-Tang Clan is clearly not going to stop for anything.
Ghostface Killah told fans to “Look out for” a new project, which stirred interest in what could be a turning point next phase in Wu-Tang history. Nevertheless, Method Man’s comments suggest that while new music may be made, it is still not certain how the group would manage creative and business decisions.
