Iconic Rock Legends Collaborate: Steven Tyler and Joe Perry Celebrate Ozzy Osbourne with a Heartfelt Tribute at 2025 VMAs
A Rock Legend Remembered at the VMAs
Not even two months after his death, a memorable musical tribute was made to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025.
Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were the ones who, together with Yungblud and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, stepped on stage and performed a wicked medley of the greatest hits of the Black Sabbath cofounder — a farewell definitely matching the “Prince of Darkness.”
The clip was a very moving moment in the night and was preceded by a video message from the late rocker’s son, Jack Osbourne, who watched it with his children. “I really wish we could be there with you all tonight to celebrate my dad’s amazing musical journey,” Jack said. “We can’t definitely not counting him out as he would be the happiest person on earth seeing such great musicians playing his music and next generation of rockers getting inspired.”

“Ozzy Forever!”
Yungblud kicked off the homage in a rather bare and frenzied way with a loud Wild Train performance and then he was able to switch to a touching Changes cover. After that, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry came on with a very moving performance of Mama, I’m Coming Home. Not only did Yungblud join them for a very short, but loud and energetic moment, during which the three voices were combined, but he also went offstage with them. When the purple light and the glowing cross were dominating the stage, Steven Tyler sang the moving refrain of the song. At the same time, the other performers, throwing their arms up in the air, shouted, in response to the audience’s call: “Ozzy forever!”
A Rock Icon’s Final Chapter
Ozzy Osbourne died in July at home in England, only a few weeks after an amazing farewell concert where he got together with his Black Sabbath bandmates and played with other rock legends like Anthrax, Alice in Chains, and Metallica.
The 76-year-old “Prince of Darkness” had been suffering from a number of health issues, mainly Parkinson’s disease, and in the end, he died of a heart attack.
“It was kind of like ‘Alright, he is not suffering anymore. He is not having a hard time,’” his son Jack, 39, said in a YouTube video posted on September 3. “That’s something. I wish he was still here… but he was going through a tough time.”

Kelly Osbourne Reflects on Grief
Kelly Osbourne – the daughter of Ozzy, the middle of him and Sharon’s three children – shared some insight into her bereavement experience.
“Grief is a weird thing,” she shared on her Instagram Story on August 4. “It comes at you unexpectedly in dribs and drabs – I shall not be OK for quite some time – but knowing that our family is not the only ones going through this makes a bit of a difference. I am clutching on to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind with all my might.”

Gratitude for Fans’ Support
After her father passing, Kelly also acknowledged the love of the fans not only for her father but also for her and the family and she was deeply touched.
“I have attempted to write this a hundred times, and I still think that I lack the words to show my gratitude to you all… thank you so much,” is what she wrote. “The affection, support, and beautiful messages that you have all sent me could not have come at a better time for me during the hardest time of my life. Each good word, every reminiscence, just a little bit of love has been way beyond what I am able to express.”
