Cartwright was a hero of the Vanderpump Rules third season when Taylor and he met at the Gold Spike bar in Las Vegas. Cartwright was a Hooters waitress.

“I was anti-marriage,” Taylor told PEOPLE in July 2019. Marriage was never in my future. It wasn’t my chance. Everything changed when I met Brittany.” He said, “I dated previously without thinking about it. I knew when I met Brittany. Taylor, an urbanite, struggled to fit in on the farm and pleased Cartwright’s grandmother, Mamaw. “I think my relationship with Mamaw is equivalent to my relationship with Lisa Vanderpump,” he remarked in a YouTube video of the first episode. “She’s the queen of the farm — or, in animal terms, she’s the bull.”

Taylor first refuted claims of an affair between herself and Faith Stowers, a former cast member of Vanderpump Rules, that first arose during the season 6 premiere on December 4, 2017. However, in the next week’s show, Taylor admitted to cheating on Cartwright with a former SUR coworker.

Tell me the truth. “You had sex with her?” Cartwright demanded, and Taylor said, “Yes, it’s true. Yes. It happened during a difficult period in our lives.” Taylor also said in a confessional, “This isn’t the first time I’ve been caught cheating. In the past, I’ve gone through months and months of denial, and it didn’t work for me… Brittany and I had fought for a long time. There are simply so many things. I had no idea [Faith] was going to say anything.” After Taylor revealed the truth, Cartwright warned him to “rot in hell” before leaving for Las Vegas on vacation. According to the bartender, the incident occurred eight months before it aired.
