Nicole Kidman says that the Met Gala still makes her nervous, but her ‘Man’ Keith Urban brings her peace.

The lovey-dovey couple walked the red carpet hand-in-hand and happily posed for photos at the 2024 Met Gala on May 6, entirely enjoying the dress code “The Garden of Time.” The couple also balanced each other out, as Kidman told PEOPLE just before the event that fashion’s greatest night still gives her butterflies.

As they got out of their hotel, Kidman admitted in PEOPLE that she continues to experience anxiety around the Met Gala, despite the fact that she has attended it in the past. On the other hand, she found comfort in having the support of her spouse, whose presence constantly helped to reduce the anxiety that she was experiencing. Due to the fact that she was knowing that he was standing next to her, Kidman entered the luxurious event with a fresh feeling of confidence. She was thankful for the calming impact that he provided amongst all of the show and glitter.

“I have my man with me,” she added, reaching for the country singer standing near.

Attending the event in a wonderful Balenciaga evening gown inspired by a 1950s Cristóbal Balenciaga Couture creation, the 56-year-old Australian actress flowed traditional elegance. Her beautiful expanded skirt, decorated with magnificent hand-frayed organza and feather-like decorations, flowed gracefully from her delicate white dual silk satin bustier, giving an air of ethereal beauty. 

Opera gloves with a rich white color boosted her look and gave her outfit a chic touch. Adir Abergel expertly did her long, blonde hair to accentuate her natural splendor and fall effortlessly and elegantly down her shoulders. She epitomized classic elegance and sophistication, radiating grace and confidence with every advance.

In the meantime, the 56-year-old Urban complemented his wife’s outfit—a black Balenciaga suit. He was sporting black slacks with straight legs and a black blazer with one row of buttons. In addition, he had on a cummerbund, black shoes, and a black satin bow tie.

Together, they walked holding hands, with Urban being kind enough to help his wife stay balanced as she posed for photos on the steps.

Kidman wore the same pink tulle gown in a 2004 Baz Luhrmann-directed Chanel No. 5 commercial to the 2023 Met Gala.

On the red carpet, Kidman said to La La Anthony, “This dress was worn in the Chanel No. 5 commercial that Baz Luhrmann and I did with Karl [Lagerfeld], who concocted this out of his head.”
