Morgan Wallen sentenced to 1 week of incarceration, 2 years of probation for drunk rooftop chair toss

The well-known country artist, Morgan Wallen of the “Last Night” fame, now has a legal battle to fight over a grossly irresponsible act that he did in Nashville. The 30-year-old singer used the excuse of alcohol to justify throwing a chair from a six-story building and lower his charge of reckless endangerment. It was an April night at a bar owned by fellow country singer Eric Church, called Chief’s, has cost Wallen a week behind bars and a few terms of probation.

On December 12, 2024, Wallen showed up at the Davidson County Circuit Court and was assigned to a woman Judge Cynthia Chappell. During the hearing, the singer was able to get a conditional plea deal with the prosecution, admitting to a violation of Tennessee’s Diversion Statute with the condition of not seeking a conviction. His lawyer Worrick Robinson IV was stated having confirmed that the plea deal stated that Wallen has to spend seven days at the DUI education center and he’s put on two-year probation. Wallen has also been ordered to pay $350 dollars as well as other court fees that arose from the settlement of this particular incident.

Wallen’s plea agreement ensures that he will be on probation for two years. The probation is divided into two parts, each year corresponding to one of the convictions of the misdemeanor of reckless endangerment. However, there is a chance that the charges against Wallen could be dropped and cleared from the record as long as he does not violate the probation terms. This kind of plea is advantageous to Wallen in that he will not have a criminal record as long as he meets the conditions of the plea.

Morgan Wallen Incident at Eric Church’s Bar

Wallen’s legal problems began in April while he was at Chief’s. While at the bar, he was said to be under the influence of alcohol and threw a chair which led to threatening scenarios for people under the balcony. His drinking and behavior were clearly reckless and this is what led to him pleading guilty to one count of reckless endangerment. There was a great deal of media reporting about Wallen and the events of that night which had many legal ramifications for him throughout the following months.

Morgan Wallen, in the next days now that he is in the spotlight again, will need to showcase that he is committed to making better decisions in the future. With this added pressure, Wallen must make tangible improvements in the next two years to expound that the encounter was purely an isolated incident. For the time being, Wallen’s fans are eager to see how the issue ends and the progress he is bound to make in his music career.

Worrick Robinson IV, attorney to Morgan Wallen, underscored the position of his client as someone who is a complete United States law full adherent. Within the time that has passed, for eight months now, Wallen took a more proactive role into the legal proceedings so as to not obscure his movements. Robinson commented, “Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months apologizing and communicating to everyone directly.” Robinson no less added that Wallen is keen on being a good influence through his music as well as his charity so as to show his good intention after the incident.

The Initial Charges

Wallen was charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and addition to that a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct. Throwing a chair off a six-story building is particularly reckless on the part of Wallen as it endangered the lives of many who were beneath the building. It surely didn’t take long for the media and police to learn about it. About Two weeks after Morgan Wallen did the unthinkable and used social media for the first time. Social media in this case was Used big time as Wallen spoke openly and unfortunately, it must be admitted, reached out an appeal in a rather mocking message. He further explained the reason for the monstrous behavior by saying that prior to apologizing, he didn’t feel comfortable with reaching out to the general public.

Wallen indicated that he has already contacted Nashville law enforcement, his family, and the Chiefs’ staff who were affected by his conduct. He noted, “I’ve been in contact with law enforcement in Nashville, my relatives, and those decent people over at Chief’s. It is not something I am proud of and I take full responsibility for my actions,”

In addition to his apologies, Wallen also acknowledged the law enforcement officers whom he said he respects as dealing with such incidents on a regular basis, stating: “I have the greatest respect for the officers who go out every day to protect us.” So as not to disrupt his current tour schedule, Wallen told his followers that this would not affect the rest of his performances and that he would think about the case in further concerts.

Morgan Wallen Continued Success in Music

Nonetheless, the charges against him were severe, and Wallen’s defense was able to negotiate a plea bargain, which softened the punishment. With the plea bargain, he was not convicted but was given suspended sentence on the condition that he complied with the requirements of his sentences, which in his case included seven days in a DUI education program, two years of probation, and a fine of $350 in addition to court fees. Although the legal battle would have certainly over clouded the personal life of Wallen, it is not clear that it has had any tracing effect on his success in career. To tell the story in another way, the region of Wallen’s career is still in the stead and upward as his songs still remain appealing to fans around the globe.

An additional professional accomplishment was made by Morgan Wallen in October when his single “Love Somebody” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The musician, nominated for the Grammy award shows that he was able to cope up with his career during the hard times due to the support of his fans and his relevance in the country music scene. Morgan Wallen’s public apology along with accepting his mistakes and working with the authorities suggests he wants to make things better and do better in the future. So, his attorney’s words also with one of the goals of Wallen for the future, to do as much good as possible through his music career, as well as in charity activities.
The incident brought forth an important lesson on the need to act responsibly, and even how much rebuke he receives from the public does not quell Wallen’s character development.
