Who‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Is Paul Thomas Anderson’s Wife? A Look at His 25-Year Relationship with Maya ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Rudolph

Paul‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Thomas Anderson and Maya Rudolph Relationship Inside 25 Year

Paul Thomas Anderson is set to finally win the Oscar this weekend, and his longtime partner Maya Rudolph will be, no doubt, the one that is next to him. The 55-year-old director has been nominated for 14 Academy Awards over his career and among them are three this year for his movie, There Will Be Blood.
Over the years, people often named Maya as Paul’s “wife” which, in fact, they are not married. But the two of them lovingly call each other husband and wife.
They first formed their connection in the early 2000s at a Saturday Night Live after-party. At that time, Maya was a prominent member of the SNL cast, on the other hand, Paul was a director who was already famous because of films such as Boogie Nights and Magnolia. Their love story has now become one of the most lasting and intimate success stories of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Hollywood.

Maya‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Rudolph Gets Praised For Her Revelation About Meeting Paul Thomas Anderson And Family Juggling

Maya Rudolph in a recent interview with Town & Country shared a funny story of how Paul Thomas Anderson fell for her at first sight. “According to him, he saw a sketch of me, and that’s when he decided, ‘This is the girl I’ll marry.’ I guess the thing is, I wasn’t there. Maybe he just told me that to be charming.”
Besides this, the pair are parents to four children whose names are Pearl, Lucille, Jack, and Minnie.
After becoming parents to their first child Maya was still working on Saturday Night Live, she was traveling between their home in Los Angeles and New York during the weeks of the shows. For two years she kept up this exhausting schedule until she finally left the show in 2007.
“I thought, Everything’s going great! I always dreamed about having children. I always wanted to live in New York. I always wanted to be on Saturday Night Live,” she said. “This little bald baby, we were listening to the musical guests warming up. When I think about it, I feel like I am not really capable of the decision I made at that time. I was out of my mind. I probably didn’t sleep for two ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌years.”

Paul‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ and Maya : How Their Love Story Unfolded Over 25 Years

Paul Thomas Anderson and Maya Rudolph’s relationship spans a quarter of a century and although they have never really tied the knot, the two of them seem to be very much married.
According to Maya, she uses the term husband for Paul because “it’s a word people understand. It means he’s the father of my child, that I live with him, we are a couple, and, essentially, we are not going anywhere” (Town & Country).
Paul likewise calls Maya his wife and has even revealed how their relationship was the source of inspiration for his film Phantom Thread.
“When I get sick, I cope in a few different ways. At first, I become really annoying, and I act like I’m not sick because I certainly don’t want to be slowed down. I don’t want to miss out on anything. Anyway, that can work most of the time. But if that doesn’t work, and you get so sick that you are confined to your bed, then you need help and you become vulnerable,” he shared with Collider. “I vividly remember being very sick, just with a flu, and noticing my wife gazing at me with such a tenderness that I thought, ‘Maybe she wants to keep me like this, at least for a week or ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌two.’”
