Katie Dadzie courageously shares her story of abuse at the hands of her father for many years

Katie Dadzie recently disclosed that she suffered abuse for many years by her father, who passed away when she was 18. The 35-year-old also said that she had never made the issue public before but only talked about it in a very limited group of friends and family.

Katie shared a brave video with her followers where she said that the abuse was going on for many years and that through therapy she has been able to cope with the effects. She added that although she has found a better balance, healing is a journey and something that she still experiences.

Katie, 35, who tied the knot with presenter Nick last year has always kept the abuse a secret. However, in an extremely courageous post, Katie Dadzie has spoken about her father, who died when she was 18. In the video she posted for the fans, Katie said: “I have never talked about this publicly before, other than to friends and family, and even then not everyone. I was sexually abused by my dad for years, years, and years. Sometimes it even pops up, but I have been through a lot of therapy to help me become as balanced as I can about it now. And that is the important part.”

Afterwards, she talked about women’s safety, saying: “It’s things like this. If you know a woman. If you are a woman. If you’re a mother of women. Just anything any affiliation with women, I think we should be worried when looking at the news. Looking at it, it’s not all men, but it is. It is men. It is men who commit the majority of domestic violence and sexual abuse. In my case it was a man. It’s almost always in sexual abuse like that: someone that you know, or a family member, or a partner, or an ex-partner. Almost always. It’s a terrifying world sometimes to think being a woman is like this, when I got back from the gym and I was walking towards the car, and my keys were like this [tightly gripped] in my hand.”

“I wear this, a sports bra and shorts. I am not asking for attention or rape, I sweat a lot at the gym but with menopause every day, this is what I wear. And when I walk that way I’m really thinking, is anyone looking at me?

“While I was working out at the gym, the guys were yelling and one of them came and stood next to me at the machine. We shouldn’t have to live in fear.”

After sharing her experience with her followers, she has been overwhelmed with supportive messages, many appreciating her for raising awareness and openly talking about her tragedy.

Katie had dropped a few hints about her victimization but it is only now that she has talked quite candidly. The celebrity, who is mother of two girls from her previous partnership, has indicated that it was their friendship with Nick’s son that actually brought her and her present spouse together.

Nick has 4 kids from 3 relationships in total, including 2 with his ex-wife Gillian and 1 with the dancer Paula Beckett. Last year the two lovebirds tied the knot in an opulent celebration at Braxted Park, Essex.
