Hayden Panettiere Shared Rare Insight Into Daughter Kaya
Hayden Panettiere revealed how dear her relationship with daughter Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, 11, was to her in a moment just months away from her demise due to complications at the age of 36.
On Sunday, it was the Heroes actress who left this world less than a week prior to her 37th birthday, and while the autopsy revealed ‘no signs of trauma,’ an official cause of death remains unknown to this day. Hayden Panettiere split with her ex, Wladimir Klitschko, 50, and it was after a legal battle in late 2017 that custody of little Kaya was officially handed over to the ex-boxer, and her daughter moved with him to Klitschko’s home country, Ukraine, as Hayden was going through the rough period of postpartum depression.
In mid-May, the actress gave the CBS Mornings show some rare insight into what Kaya calls “Hayden” in the FaceTime calls that they share frequently. Kaya’s little joke about the nickname “Britney” from the 2007 film, Bring It On: All or Nothing, was Hayden’s way of giving back to the audience with a smile on his face. ‘The only thing is that Kaya is being thought of by her friends, and she is regarded as pretty ‘”‘cool” since the movie became popular among Gen Z, and I feel really privileged to be in a great relationship with her. Kaya and I, we are together so much. I take lots of flights to Ukraine in order to be physically close to my daughter, while Kaya is most of the time communicating with me through FaceTime.
Hayden Panettiere Was Planning to Visit Daughter Kaya Before Death
Another close acquaintance added that she was intending to travel and visit her daughter, who is in Ukraine, when she passed away in such a very sad way.
Her hairstylist, Erick Orellana, shared with Page Six: ‘She was saying that she really wanted to take a long break from the usual and that her daughter was her main motive for the trip. Her daughter was the reason for almost all of her happiness. She adored her to no end…
‘The daughter was the very reason life was enjoyable to her. Every time she talked about her, the joy radiated from her eyes, and she was simply filled with delight. What was happening in her was all linked to her.
He added that she really cherished every day she spent with Kaya and constantly brought photos and told stories about her lovely daughter. In her penultimate May appearance before her death, Hayden talked with Dear Momé and gave her reasons for voluntarily relinquishing custody: ‘It was not an easy decision to come to, nor did I choose it. My life at the time was very tough. She also told Jay Shetty in his On Purpose podcast in May, ‘It was me who called the doctors, as they kept on saying I terribly needed help. I know it will do great harm when others hear this, but it is the truth. ‘ I just cannot survive like this anymore…’.

‘What hurt me most is that a person could consider that I would just have my child taken away from me and still be all right is just totally wrong. And I was struggling so much just trying to regain control in a normal life.’
After Kaya’s death, Wladimir, Kaya’s dad, made a public statement that day, Wednesday. Posting a nostalgic photograph on Instagram of the whole family—a better-times picture was his, and under it, the explanation read: ‘The whole family is going through a very shocking stage of sadness and grief…’
‘It came as a terrible shock to be informed of the tragic death of Hayden. This kind of grief is really touching. Hayden passed away much before she expected. Even though she and I were separated, she still was my daughter’s mom, Hayden, and Kaya’s mom in a way that I can’t fully explain…’

She developed a wonderful career that was the result of enormous talent and also endured the negative features of an industry that is extremely tough. To my daughter Kaya, I will always praise her mother and see that she remains aware of the qualities and the life that her mother led.
Hayden was such an outstanding and talented woman, and it is heartbreaking that she had to leave us so young… All these days of loss for Hayden’s parents, her friends, and her fans are indeed sad ones today. It is indeed a tragedy that such talented and young people like Hayden should be lost so early. Please allow us to grieve in the way we want to and be private, while you can understand that we are a family of people going through an immensely difficult time. This is probably the only statement I want to make at this moment.
