Harrison Butker Controversial Graduation Speech: What Did He Say?

Harrison Butker, the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, has drawn a lot of criticism for his recent commencement address, which disparaged everything from abortion to women who have jobs outside the house. According to Whoopi Goldberg, who supported Butker on Thursday’s edition of “The View,” he does have one supporter who is not expected to be there for him.

However, at the commencement ceremony that took place on Saturday at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, Butker criticized Joe Biden for his support of abortion rights and claimed that the beginning of a woman’s life does not occur until she becomes a wife and mother.

However, Goldberg supported Butker’s right to make such statements to her colleagues and co-hosts on Thursday, even though Butker’s comments ignited outrage on social media and resulted in a scolding from the National Football League.

While Goldberg was speaking, he added, “Listen, I like it when people say what they need to say.” “He is a devout Catholic, and he is now attending a Catholic college. It is OK for him to have these opinions since they are his own. It’s not necessary for me to trust them. I am not required to concur with them. It is not necessary for the women who were seated in that audience to accept your invitations.

Butker was compared to Colin Kaepernick, a former quarterback in the National Football League who became a pariah after kneeling during the playing of the National Anthem. Goldberg noticed parallels between the two. “In the same way that we want to show respect to people whose ideas are different from ours, we want to show respect to Colin Kaepernick when he takes a knee,” Goldberg added.

Although Goldberg said that Butker had the right to have the opinions that he did, she stated that this did not necessarily imply that others should adhere to those beliefs.

And if the ladies who are seated there decide to follow his advice, then it is a wonderful thing for them because they will be content. Goldberg said that if they do not, it is to their advantage since they will find happiness in a different manner.

The moniker “Butt Kicker” is a play on words that originated from his last name and the role he holds.

Harrison Butker’s Early Life

Butker was born on July 14, 1995, in Decatur, Georgia, to his parents, Harrison Butker Sr. and Elizabeth Keller Butker. He spent his childhood in Decatur. His elder sister is his sibling. For twenty-eight years, his maternal grandpa, James W. Keller, MD, worked as an oncologist during his tenure at Emory University. Elizabeth Keller Butker, Butker’s mother, has been working as a clinical medical physicist at Emory University since the year 1988.

However, Butker’s father, Harrison Butker Sr., is presently working as a financial analyst for MDKeller, an American holding firm that was established in 2021 by Butker Jr. and Austin Wright. MDKeller has locations in both Kansas City and Arizona. Butker Sr. is a graduate of the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, where he earned his Master of Business Administration degree.

After becoming interested in football as a rising sophomore, Butker attended The Westminster Schools, where he was a member of the football team before he graduated. With a field goal that was 53 yards, he shattered the record that had been set by the school at the time. He was a three-sport athlete who competed in basketball, football, and soccer. He won three state championships in soccer, and he was the first chair tuba player for the school’s (upperclassmen) symphonic band for all four years of his high school career.

Isabelle Butker, who was introduced in the contentious speech that the NFL player delivered at his graduation, became the main focus of the controversial speech. Isabelle, who was born and raised in Georgia, is said to have attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where she participated on the basketball team for all four years of her college career and graduated in 2016. While they were both in their first year of college, Isabelle and Butker started dating together.

They remained in a relationship throughout their time at the institution. Following the beginning of her relationship with Harrison, Isabelle disclosed in an interview that she had converted to the Catholic faith. In May of 2017, Harrison made his proposal to Isabelle, which was almost exactly one month after he was recruited by the NFL. A Catholic church served as the setting for the couple’s wedding on April 5th, 2018.

Butker’s net wealth and influence will undoubtedly increase as his career progresses. His progression from a rising sophomore at The Westminster School to a successful NFL kicker is a tribute to his dedication and skill.
