Deadly Shooting Incident Details
A devastating drive by shooting tragically occurred late Wednesday night at the Artis Lounge located in Chicago. Consequently, this violent incident resulted in the confirmed deaths of four individuals while simultaneously leaving fourteen additional people wounded with gunshot injuries. Significantly, reports indicate the victims included the boyfriend of artist Mello Buckzz. Importantly, this shooting unfolded immediately following her scheduled mixtape release party held inside that specific venue.

The attack actually took place when people were starting to leave the nightclub and were moving down the street. As discussed by the witnesses of the attack and based on the police report, the attackers were in a car, which was moving, in the exact same direction, and intentionally drove through the packed nightclub entrance. Almost immediately afterward, these people cruelly started firing multiple bullets right in the middle of the assembled crowd of innocent people, who were outside and as a result, causing utter confusion and distress.
Mello Buckzz Personal Tragedy and Grief
Having suffered this massive personal loss, Mello Buckzz turned to her Instagram Story platform the following day to express how she felt about it. She then started publishing several extremely personal and emotional pictures and videos of the moments that she and, sadly, her late boyfriend used to be together. Unfortunately, these posts were later seized and distributed by No Jumper. Accompanying one particularly poignant video showing the couple together happily, she wrote a raw, heartfelt caption: “We was having so much fun in our private little life.” She continued painfully, “Couldnt leave each other alone glued to my hip everyday its not a night we aint spend together. Im so fcking angry u was woke i held yo hand until i couldnt u talked to me clearly ion get it boo im fcked up.” This message conveyed her shock, anger, and overwhelming confusion amidst the grief.
Grieving Through Faith and Community
In a separate message shared widely on her social media, Mello Buckzz publicly called for spiritual support and communal prayer during this harrowing time. She earnestly requested: “Prayers up for all my sisters god please wrap yo arms around every last one of them.” She further expressed her own desperate need for divine comfort, admitting vulnerably, “We need u i need u ngl im f*cked up. feel like everything just weighing down on me. Feel like everything just weighing down on me…” Finally, she revealed her primary coping mechanism amidst the unbearable pain and crushing weight of sorrow, stating simply, “All I can do is talk to god and pray.” This highlighted her reliance on faith and spiritual communication as essential tools for navigating the aftermath of the senseless violence that claimed her partner’s life and impacted so many others directly connected to her event.
Victim Medical Conditions
Moreover, the latest reports concerning the fourteen gunshot wounded persons of the said attack are not encouraging. From the medical reports, it has come to light that four victims are in a critical condition at various hospitals. Their injuries are so serious that doctors cannot do anything other than call them severe. This shows that the victims are at a very high risk and their situation needs monitoring, attention, and care in the trauma centers. Hence, the prospects of the future well-being of the injured are still at a very tricky stage, showing that the perpetrators physically abused them in the most extreme way.
Ongoing Police Investigation

At a crucial time, the police continue to thoroughly investigate the intricate details of the mass shooting incident. The officials of the Chicago Police Department have reported that by Thursday morning, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal attack at the Artis Lounge. Nevertheless, the detectives are working very hard to follow different active trails, which are primarily based on the witness statements, and at the same time, a lot of evidence has been collected. Critically, preliminary findings strongly indicate that three distinct shooters participated directly in the drive by assault, and police resources are now heavily focused on identifying these suspects, locating their vehicle, and ultimately apprehending them to face justice.
Pastor’s Account of Chaos
Pastor Donovan Price, who was one of the first responders to the crime scene to help and support the injured, in person, gave an emotional and selfish perspective to CBS News Chicago and complained about the extremely abnormal and very shocking environment. “This was really, really the worst such incident I myself have ever been to,” Pastor Price narrated with a melancholic voice; therefore, he highlighted the extent of the disaster. He stated how things were wild and chaotic: “People were panicking and rushing to find their friends or family members who were missing. They did it relentlessly. They were accusing those who was still alive among the victims, investigating for their phones because they unintentionally left them in the confusion and panic as if they were searching for their own lives.”
He emphasized the communication breakdown, noting, “This meant they couldn’t even make emergency calls for help or assistance, and many couldn’t even locate their car keys to flee the area safely.” Pastor Price concluded with stark disbelief, contrasting this event with Chicago’s unfortunately frequent violence: “It’s something utterly horrific that you simply wouldn’t expect to encounter, even understanding our city has far too many shootings; this level of brutality and chaos was unprecedented, absolutely nothing like this.”
