In a very honest chat with Cosmopolitan, 21-year-old Vivian Musk gave her side of the story of her cold relationship with her father, the Tesla chief Elon Musk. She said, “I guess it’s a bit hard for me since there’s not really much that I can do about it, so why should I care? It’s a part of my life story, but not my life story going forward.” Vivian’s talk gives a glimpse of her determination to live her life and not let their problems ruin it.

Many years and different relationships make up the story of Elon Musk’s family. His first is with ex-wife Justine Wilson in 2002, who together sadly lost their first son, Nevada Alexander, at 10 weeks. Later, they had twins Vivian and Griffin, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian. 2020 saw the arrival of Musk and singer Grimes’ first child, followed by daughter Exa Dark Sideræl and son Techno Mechanicus. Musk secretly fathered two children, Strider and Azure, with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in 2021, and they had a daughter, Arcadia, in 2024. In 2025, Ashley St. Clair came forward with the news that she and Musk had a child named Romulus, and Zilis announced a fourth child, Seldon Lycurgus, though the timing remains unclear.
Vivian recounts the “isolating” aspect of growing up in the extreme upper class
Vivian also revealed that she had an upbringing of extreme wealth, and that she considered the “very strange” and “isolating” experience that was limited to exclusive schools and social circles. She confessed that she recognized the lifestyle as “gauche” from a very young age and was so impacted by the sight of homelessness that she was often branded as being overly dramatic. Following her childhood instincts, she pointed out that since then she has “unlearned a huge amount” about that world and went on to say “I was right to be a dramatic little about that.”

Vivian thinks extreme wealth and power corrupt
In the interview, Vivian admitted that she was a “rich kid” and talked about how she saw wealthy people change. She said that the desire for power “makes people evil deep inside, ” and the cycle of greed and over-indulgence is “like a cartoon” and “never-ending.” Vivian felt that in such a situation, “there is no limit, ” and she revealed that her biggest fear was how it can make a person entirely different.
