Angelina Jolie Lawsuit: Will Brad Pitt Drop Lawsuit?

Angelina Jolie’s attorney has said that the actress is requesting that her former husband, Brad Pitt, “end the fighting” by withdrawing the case that he has filed against her in relation to their vineyard. After Jolie sold her portion of Chateau Miraval for $67 million in October 2021, Pitt filed a lawsuit against her business partner. He maintained that the transaction violated a verbal agreement that they had made with one another. According to statements made by Jolie’s side, she denied him the opportunity to buy her out of the firm because she did not want to sign his non-disclosure agreement as part of the transaction.

Jolie has made a formal request to Pitt to divulge any conversations he had with third parties in the aftermath of the aircraft trip incident that occurred in 2016 and ultimately led to their divorce. The attorneys for Pitt referred to her request as “intrusive” and a “sensationalist fishing expedition,” and they also requested that the court reject it.

In a statement that was acquired by us on July 17, Jolie’s attorney Paul Murphy claims that Pitt “tried to punish and control Angelina by demanding a newly expanded non-disclosure agreement to cover his personal misconduct and abuse.” This statement was made in reference to Pitt’s previous offer to purchase Jolie’s part in the vineyard.

“Those actions are central to these proceedings,” according to Murphy, adding, “We are not at all surprised Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents demonstrating these facts.”

“While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong,” Murphy said in his statement.

A representative for Pitt refused to comment on the matter.

Jolie’s team is demanding that the third-party communications Jolie’s team deal with “sensitive issues” (including “therapy he voluntarily undertook after the flight incident to better himself”) and involve some of “his most trusted advisors,” according to a recent court file that was submitted by the attorneys for Pitt. They made the assertion that Jolie “wants them anyway as part of her efforts to turn this business dispute into a re-litigation of the former couple’s divorce case.”

The most recent file that Pitt made, according to a person close to him, stands on its own.

In May, a court issued a ruling that made it mandatory for Jolie to reveal non-disclosure agreements that she had negotiated over the course of eight years. His side intends to demonstrate that non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) are a common practice in the business world by having her reveal her history of using them.

Murphy said in May that they are “more than happy to” send up those “common NDAs” since they “are simply not comparable to Mr. Pitt’s last-second demand to try and cover up his personal misconduct.” This statement dates back to the month of May.

The court’s decision “opens the door to discovery on all issues related to Pitt’s abuse” thus “we welcome that transparency in all parties’ discovery responses.”

At the time, a source close to Pitt said that the verdict was a “significant blow to the credibility” of Jolie’s accusations, as well as a “strong statement challenging them to match their rhetoric with actual facts, which they consistently have not been able to do.” Another source stated that the ruling was a “strong statement challenging them to match their rhetoric with actual facts.”
