According to the official report that was revealed on April 18, 2023, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner was responsible for Carter’s death. Following the inhalation of difluoroethane and the use of alprazolam, which is the generic counterpart of the brand name Xanax, his accidental drowning was determined to be the cause of his death.

According to the investigation, Carter was “incapable while in the bathtub due to the effects” of the medications he consumed, which contributed to his death by drowning. This was one of the contributing factors that led to his death.
