Best friends Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas just revealed matching tattoos on Instagram — the Ponyo characters they voiced as kids.Cyrus, 26, played Ponyo. Jonas, 25, was Sōsuke. They’re huge fans of the film, but the ink is really for each other. They met on set years ago and their friendship has stuck ever since.

Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas revealed matching Ponyo tattoos on social media. The tiny line art shows Ponyo and Sōsuke nose-to-nose, captioned in Japanese: “ポニョ、宗介が好き” — “Ponyo loves Sōsuke.” The pair also shared pics from the tattoo session outdoors and a quiet moment after, with Cyrus’ arm around Jonas as he leans on her shoulder.
Noah Confesses She Was Fond of Frankie as a Kid
Even though fans have been guessing for years that Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas were a couple, they actually never were. Yet, Cyrus has shared that she did like the acting of her Ponyo co-star a bit when they were children. She even wrote her response to a comment on TikTok back in January, where the artist confessed that she was “really in love” with Jonas as a kid.
This very disclosure happened in a short video showing Cyrus and her friend driving around while the Lovebug song by Jonas Brothers was playing.

Noah Cyrus has confessed that as a child she really liked Frankie Jonas.
She would say the truth about this after a fan wrote on TikTok that they thought at one time that Noah and Frankie were the next power couple since they have a history together working on Ponyo when they were kids.
When Noah saw the comment, she wrote that she was figuratively very deeply in love with Frankie Jonas at the time of making the film and touring with the siblings who are famous. The duo not only was cast to voice Ponyo and Sōsuke in the English-language film version but also did the English theme song together.
Noah was quite often encountering the Jonas Brothers, as her sister Miley Cyrus was touring with the group at the time of the hugely popular Best of Both Worlds Tour in 2007 and 2008.
Noah and Frankie each have stories of recovery.
Noah Cyrus and Frankie Jonas both voiced Ponyo as kids. Now they’re talking openly about how they’ve grown up. Cyrus dropped her second album I Want My Loved Ones to Go With Me in 2025. She says getting sober helped her figure out who she is and what she’s here for. That helped her to come out from a period which she described as dark.
As for Jonas, he is yet another person who has been fairly open about his addiction issues. Aside from that, in 2023, he dropped his very first EP entitled Sewer Rat, which is a pretty good indication of a new chapter in his musical career. As a matter of fact, both of them have turned to artistic endeavors to reveal their personal narratives and bond with fans even as they have been figuring out their paths while being in the limelight.
