The beef was recently ignited after Nicki Minaj accused SZA of subtweeting her which made the “Super Bass” rapper go on an exaggeratingly angry outburst about the “Snooze” singer’s appearance and career. Here are all details about the feud.
It seems that that time has come when SZA and Nicki Minaj may not be on good terms anymore
After insulting the “Snooze” singer with a set of audacious comments, SZA shot back with her own searing reaction to Nicki Minaj in that particular event (yikes).
That wasn’t really the beginning of the skirmish. Nicki was actually addressing rapper Punch—who is also signed with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), SZA’s label—for allegedly “bullying me on Twitter for no reason.” (Punch is yet to deny the accusations publicly.)
“So glad I have proof of being bullied by AND being lied on by a man PUBLICLY,” Nicki, 42, wrote in July 15 message on X, “on a platform I use for my JOB; after I rejected his business proposition on more than one occasion.”
Right after her Punch-centric tirade, SZA, 35, had her own veiled message for the public, typing away the mysterious line, “Mercury retrograde.. don’t take the bait lol silly goose.”
As vague as it was, Nicki was quick to accuse the “Kill Bill” singer of subtweeting her and came back at her by the remark that “Go draw your freckles back on bookie”.
Nicki Minaj is Negative About SZA and Her Music

Since that fateful moment when Nicki Minaj fired the first shot and insulted SZA, she has made even more mean comments about how SZA looks. In a social media post, Nicki mentioned that SZA looked like she was both stung and screaming from the bee while sounding like she had swallowed a bee. In addition, she threw a jibe at SZA by making a mockery of her signature face freckles, which was something SZA is still remembered for.
However, Nicki did not just limit her comments to SZA’s looks and music. She also ridiculed SZA’s music achievements. SZA’s SOS album, which was released in 2022, got so much of a like that it was “9x Platinum” in the shortest time, didn’t take more than three years. That means that the number of copies that were sold was very high, and in 80+ weeks, SZA was the only Black artist to remain static in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 music chart exceeding Michael Jackson’s old record.
Nicki said that SZA was able to break the record only because she put several new songs on the first album, thus turning it into a “deluxe” version. Nicki also complained that SZA’s action was unfair, not honest, not ethical. Nicki said she thought SZA was a real artist, but now she didn’t believe it.
Without speaking directly to Nicki, SZA hinted at something strong when a fan alerted her that there is a possibility for Nicki’s fans (called the “Barbz”) to be mean to her online. SZA took to herself and explained that even though every day, millions of people online make her a target to bullying, she still has the courage to go on with her performances where there is a lot of love. She said she enjoys her parents’ good health, has achieved more in her career than ever before and asked her fans to get some perspective and stop harassing her.
