Olivia Munn Shared That She Suffered Food Poisoning After Eating Sushi in a Hot Bath
Oliva Munn Reveals Sushi in the Bath Caused the “One of the Grossest” Nights of Her Life
Olivia Munn shares a self-horror story.
After a brutal recall of the food poisoning, the Newsroom alum decided to take a hot bath and eat sushi. “One of the grossest things I have ever done in my life,” she confessed co-hosting with Jenna Bush Hager on the Nov. 18 episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. “I can’t believe I am saying this right now.”
The 45-year-old, who with her husband John Mulaney, 43, shares son Malcolm, 3, and daughter Méi, 13 months, said it was a decision made out of pure exhaustion.
She was working and staying at the Shangri-La hotel in Vancouver, which she raved “has amazing sushi.”
“I really needed to take a bath, and I was also very hungry,” Olivia said, adding that she loves baths to relax. While she was describing it, Jenna said she could “see the vision” of the disastrous multi-task.

“Then you decided to go to sleep,” Jenna Bush Hager observed. “You were already picturing the end of the race.”
Olivia concurred, elaborating that she drew a bath, placed the sushi next to the tub and went to take care of a few other things. “I got busy and I returned,” she recalled. “I was in the bath and I started eating the sushi from the bath.”
The actress from X‑Men: Apocalypse, in a flash, regretted both the deed and the disclosure. “I had food poisoning the next day,” she revealed. “I was at the airport, at the gift shop, and I was, like, [throwing up] into the trash can from a distance.”
Olivia Munn Says “Heated Bath Sushi” Was the Cause of Her Violent Illness
In a jest, Olivia Munn stated that among other things she “had great aim” in the aftermath of her bath-time sushi fiasco. She recounted feeling sick abruptly and then throwing up with great force.
“Certainly sushi should not be heated by a bath,” she said in a sarcastic tone. “Guys, I am terrible and I really hate myself for telling this story.”
Jenna Bush Hager could not believe the confession and said, “I have never had food poisoning while in a bath. That is one thing we don’t have in common.”
