Henry Cavill Returns to the Gym Following an Injury on the Set of The Highlander: “Through Suffering, Become Stronger”
Cavill Pushes Through Recovery
Henry Cavill is not stopping his leg injury from getting in his way of his workout.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the 42-year-old actor shared a set of photo that he took of himself exercising, wherein he had a big brace that covered most of his left leg below the knee. This announcement follows the report of Cavill’s leg injury while he was training for the Highlander film series reboot, which is about to come out, about three weeks ago.
In the first image, Cavill can be seen doing pull-ups with his legs straight while using all his strength. The next two pictures showed him doing leg extensions in the seated position as he was secured in the brace. The last one seemed to be a close-up of his leg getting some medical treatment.

“In Enduring, Grow Strong”
In his Oct. 1 post, Cavill attributed the quote to Dak’kon, a character from the 1999 video game Planescape: Torment, writing as his caption “Endure. In enduring, grow strong.” The quote emphasized his theme of persistence, as he shared with his followers a brief insight into his recuperation.
His current post is his first update since Sept. 19, when Cavill posted an image of his leg with a wrap around his ankle and foot. While he hasn’t given out the details of the accident that caused the injury, Deadline reported on Sept. 11 that during the shooting of the Highlander reboot, he had gotten an unidentified leg injury.
Finding Strength in Words
On the 19th of September, Cavill looked for strength in poetry and opened up with the poem “Invictus” by 19th-century English poet William Ernest Henley together with the words of his photos showing his injured leg. One of the most frequently cited poems for might and perseverance starts with the lines:
“Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.”
By combining these everlasting lines with photos of his healing, Cavill not only recognized his resolve to fight his weakness with strength and spirit but also, to an extent, made a sight verification of it.

About the Highlander Reboot
Highlander is currently at the stage of pre-production. The film Highlander is a remake of 1986 fantasy-adventure classic by the same name, starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. Amazon MGM Studios is making a reboot of the movie and has already announced Henry Cavill to be their leading man. Other actors on board are; Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Max Zhang. “If you thought you had seen me doing sword fighting before, then trust me, you haven’t seen the half of it,” Cavill joked at CinemaCon 2024, according to Deadline.

What’s Next for Cavill
Besides Highlander, Cavill will be engaged in other works among which is In the Grey. This will be his second time working with the director Guy Ritchie. The last time he was on a big screen, it was a short appearance in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
