Several family members of the victims are experiencing a grief that is beyond words.
After a tragic plane crash in North Carolina, which took the lives of race car driver Greg Biffle and his wife Cristina Grossu along with their two kids and three other people on the same plane, the families of the passengers have come out in their sadness and sorrow.
“The fact that we have lost the ones we love weighs heavily on us,” shared a joint statement by the families which was published by NASCAR on Dec. 18. “Our families have been left broken beyond words from this tragedy.”

Moreover, the couple Greg and Cristina, who were a realtor and a travel agent, were depicted as “devoted parents and active philanthropists,” and the statement emphasized the fact that their focus in life was their son Ryder, 5, and Greg’s daughter Emma, 14, both of whom died in the Dec. 18 crash at Statesville Regional Airport.
Emma, who the 55-year-old had with ex-wife Nicole Lunders, was said to be “a wonderful human being with a kind heart and greatly loved by many,” while the family described Ryder as “being full of energy, inquisitive, and always happy.”

Cristina’s mom, Cathy Grossu, told People, the Biffles were going to Florida for a birthday vacation when their Cessna Citation jet crashed on the runway while trying to land at about 10:15 a.m.
“It is so tragic to think it was on their birthday that they were killed,” she expressed to the magazine. “The family was having a great time, and then it ended in such a horrible way, it’s just, it is very difficult to accept. I don’t think I will ever get used to the fact that they are no more.”
Cathy had her last conversation with her daughter just a minute before the accident.
“She sent me a message from the plane and said, ‘We are in trouble,’ and she didn’t write anymore,” Cathy stated while sobbing. “I don’t know how to explain it, we are shattered. We are just broken hearts.”

The Biffle family’s lost isn’t only the one being mourned, unknown are the further details of the plane crash that took the lives of Dennis Dutton, Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth.
“Dennis Dutton and his son Jack were greatly cherished, and their loss is a blow to everyone who was their friend or acquaintance,” the Biffle, Grossu, Dutton, and Lunders families shared in the joint statement. “We will miss Craig Wadsworth, a friend to many in the NASCAR community and a great companion to those who knew him. To us, each of them was the world, and the hole in our hearts that their leaving has caused cannot be measured.”
“Privacy, sympathy, and tolerance are what we are asking for as we mourn and begin to digest this phenomenal loss,” the statement went on. “We are thankful for the goodwill and embrace that have been given to our families throughout this very hard period. Currently, our attention is spending on remembering their lives and giving each other strength.”
