According to Chassagne, the rationale for the divorce petition is that the couple cannot reconcile their differences. Lanez is presently serving a sentence of ten years in jail for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, whose true name is Megan Pete, in the foot during the summer of 2020 in the Hollywood Hills. Lanez is currently serving his term.

We were unable to get in touch with a current attorney for Lanez very immediately. Additionally, someone attempted to get a statement from Lanez’s family. “Over the past three years, Mr. Peterson has engaged in a pattern of conduct that was intended to intimidate Ms. Pete and silence her truths from being heard,” said the statement that was released by the District Attorney of Los Angeles County, George Gascón, regarding the prison sentence that was handed down to the Canadian rapper.

Lanez, Megan, and Kelsey Harris, who had formerly worked as Megan’s assistant and was also her ex-friend, were involved in a disagreement after leaving a pool party that had been hosted at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Los Angeles region on July 12, 2020. This led to the event that took place.

Lanez was refused bail in September 2023 by Judge David Herriford, who cited the rapper’s “violent felony” conviction as well as his “history of violating court orders.” She cited these two factors as the reasons for her decision. Additionally, Herriford brought up Lanez’s protection orders, which he had previously disobeyed, and said that he was a potential deportation danger due to the fact that he is a citizen of Canada.

Tory Lanez’s Early Life

Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson was born on July 27, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario, to a Bajan father, Sonstar, and a Curaçao mother, Luella. The family was established in Montreal before relocating to Miami, Florida. Following his mother’s death, his father started working as an ordained priest and missionary, which caused them to relocate often around the United States. Lanez’s father eventually remarried, and the family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where Lanez met his buddy Hakeem, who was then a janitor. Hakeem gave him the moniker “Lanez” in reference to Lanez’s thrill-seeking habits, which often resulted in his messing about in the street, not checking for traffic, and playing in the lanes.

Because of his behavioral troubles, he was placed in the care of his cousins Dahir Abib and Orane Forest in Jamaica, Queens, New York in 2006. Lanez was subsequently forced to go to Toronto with his grandma. Because she refused to care for him, he was left alone at the age of 15. “I ended up living downtown with three guys I didn’t really know. I arrived inside the home and had no idea how things operated. From the age of fifteen to eighteen, I was always fighting with them. It was each guy for himself. That’s what made me a man: having to fend for myself and being in a circumstance where there’s no father, grandmother, or mother to aid you. “It changed who I am today,” he adds.
