“It is with a very heavy heart for myself and my family that I announce that our beloved mother, your beloved icon and artist Marlena Shaw has passed away today at 12:03,” Bradshaw said in the video. “It gives me great sadness to share this news with you.” “She passed away in a very calm manner, and she exited the room while listening to some of her favorite songs.”

Shaw was a dynamic and versatile singer who is best known for his song “California Soul,” which was released in 1969 and has remained among the most famous songs of all time and is often sampled. Among the musicians who have sampled it, some of the more notable ones are Gang Starr, Stereo MC, and Diplo, who was responsible for the remix.
