Brad Arnold who was the lead singer as well as a founding member of 3 Doors Down has died at the age of 47. The band made the announcement on social media, saying that he passed away peacefully early Saturday morning after a cancer battle, and that he was with his wife, family, and loved ones at the time of his death.
The band recognized Arnold for being instrumental in changing the sound of rock music through his 3 Doors Down work, which resulted in huge hits such as “Kryptonite”—a track he wrote while attending a high school math class.
“His music journey was not limited to the stage but his songs became a source of connection, happiness, faith, and shared experiences that will continue even when the stages he performed on have been forgotten,” the message ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌continued.

The band’s statement also emphasized Brad Arnold’s love and commitment towards his family, and it was his family that asked for their privacy to be respected during such a difficult time.
Earlier release from the band revealed that Arnold during the month of May had made a video disclosing his diagnosis of clear cell renal carcinoma which is one of the cancers of the kidney. It had been detected in the lung too which made it a stage 4 diagnosis.
Brad Arnold was the member with the longest time in 3 Doors Down since he had been the one to sing and play the drums from the time the band was formed in 1996. He had also been the sole founding member to continue with the band throughout its entire ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌journey.
