Eboni K. Williams Pregnancy Journey: Is Williams Proudly Waiting to be a Single Mother!

Upon informing her fertility doctor that she was prepared to utilize the eggs she had preserved six years before embarking on her voyage to maternity, Eboni K. Williams innocently inquired as to whether she and her fiancé were still together.

The problem was that Williams had broken off that engagement many years before, and he had no intention of waiting around for another romance to come along. “I am doing this thing solo,” the former Real Housewives of New York City star recounted telling Dr. Daniel Stein of the West Side Clinic. “I am doing this thing alone.” “‘This is about me, not he.'”

Over the course of the last two years, I have been wishing to embark on the road of being a single mother by choice, and I am so grateful to be here at this moment. Nevertheless, I am not even close to being aware of how highly stigmatized it is still,” Williams acknowledges. “My mother Gloria brought me up entirely by herself, and she did it at an age and at a time when being a single mother in this country — particularly a Black single mother — was one of the most dishonorable things you could do. She did this in order to raise me. And within the course of a single generation, it has altered to the point that women like me are not just accepting it, but actually choosing to adhere to it.

“It is not the shame-ridden narrative that it used to be; that’s steeped in poverty, that’s steeped in scarcity, that’s steeped in rejection — that’s steeped in all of these heartbreaking, sad trauma points,” Williams continues to explain. “No, it is not the story at all. We have mothers who have invested exorbitant resources (in the form of money, in the form of time, in the form of what we put our bodies through, etc.) to bring these innocent, little babies to this earth and to shower them with all the things that all sweet babies deserve. They are so desperately and lovingly wanted that they have mothers who have invested these resources. Yes, it is love.

At the age of 34, Williams took the first step toward becoming a mother by freezing her eggs. This was the beginning of her quest. She started the process of finding a sperm donor via the California Cryobank after she had already decided that the time was appropriate to pursue it for real. This decision was made several years later.
