Kate Gosselin Says Man ‘Almost Knocked Me Down’ as He Allegedly Committed a Robbery at a Store in New Zealand
Kate Gosselin Allegedly Spotted a Theft Incident while Being Overseas
Kate Gosselin had a hard time explaining how her trip overseas was nearly spoiled. The ex-Jon & Kate Plus 8 TV personality, 50-year-old Kate, posted a TikTok on January 17, where she was sharing the story about a robbery that took place at the local grocery store after the event. Gosselin said in the video that a man was trying to take away a “trolley” that was full of goods until some other shoppers came to the rescue.
“You wouldn’t believe all the Kiwi men chasing after him, trying to grab him,” she explained to the camera. “Everybody is calling the police. The thing here is a big deal, because seriously, there hasn’t been much crime here, guys.”

Kate Gosselin Almost Fell Over in an Alleged Robbery While She Was on the Mend from Her Leg Injury
Kate Gosselin’s recovery story got a lot more exciting when, at a grocery store in New Zealand, she was almost knocked over during an alleged robbery.
“The man ran past us and lost his shoe,” she shared on her TikTok. “He literally shoved me, like I was almost knocked down nearly in my walking state.”
Gosselin was healing from a “life‑altering” leg injury she got after playing with her dog, Meika, in September 2025. On January 14—82 days post-accident—she announced that she had gone for a walk without help for the first time in New Zealand.
“He almost knocked me down,” she further explained. “Running past me and I am just now learning to walk. Before the injury, I would just now walk, and the incident briefly took me down.”
Her boyfriend, Steve Neild, was also there during the situation. Gosselin commended his immediate reaction by posting the words over the clip, “I love that Steve turns right back into a cop on a moment’s notice.”
Kate Gosselin Praises New Zealand Community’s Response to Alleged Robbery
Kate Gosselin remembered how the supposed robbery in New Zealand was dealt with in a totally different way from her times in the US. “If it had happened in America, they probably would have just let him go,” she said as people were walking by. “Usually, [people] don’t even help out and they don’t try to stop it. I really get happy when I see people do it.” At least, there were six, eight of them who were flying after him and they took him down.”
Kate Gosselin even joked about her minor role in the incident of the alleged theft.
She said, “I kicked the shoelace that the thief lost when he was running away from the store ‘to slow him down.'”
While people were collectively returning the scavenged shopping carts to the store, Gosselin enthusiastically encouraged their efforts. “Good job guys,” she exclaimed, her excitement evident at the combined effort to thwart the alleged theft.

Kate Gosselin Says Alleged Thief Got Away, but Witnesses Reportedly Noted the License Plate
Kate Gosselin, at the very end of her TikTok video, shared how the incident ended up being different from what she had initially thought. It was her first impression that the thief had been caught but later on, she was informed that two guys, one of them the thief, got away in a car. Gosselin was told that a person who appeared to be the store employee told her that the witnesses had taken the vehicle’s license plate number so that they could give it to the police.
“That’s really great that they chased him,” she said again, complimenting the passers-by who tried to stop the thief.
