Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman Palladino Unveil a New Project Related to Gilmore Girls
Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino are co-writing a Gilmore Girls book
Lorelai Gilmore is coming back to Stars Hollow — at least in the new book. Series lead Lauren Graham, almost two decades after Gilmore Girls was wrapped up, announced that she and the creator Amy Sherman-Palladino are co-writing a book based on the fan-favorite show.
“Amy and I, in desperation to find a new Gilmore story to tell, are working on a new Gilmore Girls book. Lauren Graham, 58, wrote in an Instagram post on Dec. 3, along with a throwback photo with Alexis Bledel. “So, get your coffee ready!”
The untitled book will be a look at the “small-town dramedy with mile-a-minute dialogue that became a cultural touchstone,” as per the press release, through the lens of how it all started and how it evolved later on. It will be published by Celadon Books (a Macmillan imprint).

What the new Gilmore Girls book will feature
According to the official statement reported by People’s magazine, “The duo Lauren Graham and Amy Sherman-Palladino, in their book, use a combination of humor, personal insight, and never-before-seen anecdotes to reveal an intimate, behind-the-scenes look of their creative collaboration and the shared ideas that led to Lorelai Gilmore and the world of Stars Hollow. They also go back to the unforgettable moments from the shooting, noting that the series’ humor, heart, and magic have been the main reasons for its long-lasting fan base.”
Graham has also previously penned a love letter to Lorelai. In her 2016 memoir, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, she shared her experience of filming the Netflix revival A Year in the Life. After that, she has made more memorable moments, one of which is her reunion with Alexis Bledel — who played her daughter Rory — at the 2025 Emmy Awards in September.
Amy Sherman-Palladino on collaborating with Lauren Graham: “The answer will always be ‘yes'”
As a matter of fact, Amy Sherman-Palladino figured out right away that a new project without Lauren’s contribution wouldn’t make any sense. So, she asked Lauren to join her team.
“If it were in any way possible, I would be able to work with Lauren Graham only once and I would decline the opportunity. On any project, a collaboration with Lauren Graham would be incredible. The absolute,” the 59-year-old quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, said in a statement on December 2. “Whether it is a boozy broads lunch at Joe Allen’s, or actually writing a book, the answer will always be ‘yes’. I constantly find myself wanting to be indelibly associated with her side forever.”
She quipped, “It may not be very good for our health, but that’s just the way things are.”
