Rosie O’Donnell Says GLP-1 Treatment Transformed Her Health

Rosie‍‌‍‍‌ O’Donnell Names GLP-1 Drug Mounjaro as a Life-Changer

Rosie is a fervent believer in the weight loss drug. Besides, Rosie O’Donnell recently said GLP-1 drugs like Mounjaro were a major lifesaver for ‍‌‍‍‌her. But what happened first?

A mother’s loss and a period of weight gain. When Rosie’s mother died in 1973, all the children in the family, including Rosie, weighed more. “The death of my mother meant an increase in weight for all of us.” Rosie, in an interview with People published on Thursday, told the story of how Rosie O’Donnell died in 1973 and became the matriarch of the family before then, and her death caused a weight gain among the children (Rosie among them). An actress from “A League of Their Own” remembers how her father used to go for the family trip. The father would give a $100 bill to his five kids, and they would all go to the nearby Foodtown market to buy food.

According to Rosie, it is very hard for an 11-year-old to shop for food for a family of five, and, in the absence of any nutritious options, one ends up buying Entenmann’s and Cap’n Crunch. And after having said, “Subtotal please,” which we would do each time while doing our shopping, we would go ahead and put back the chicken and hamburger meat every time we were almost hitting the $100 mark. “We all gained weight,” as Rosie said, “and everyone else was affected because grief and trauma really get to a person.

Rosie O’Donnell Says Mounjaro Ended Years of Weight Struggles

“I’m alive mainly because Mounjaro has been treating me,” she insisted, mentioning that with the drug’s help, she has “lost a pound or two per month over the course of three years.”

I hope that instead of rewarding me for my advertisement, Mounjaro could lower the cost of their drug,” said the former “View” member in an emotional manner. “Because I see the fight that people who have higher-weight bodies have, I feel like saying that I know the shame we have to carry and also the humiliation that people who are heavier are constantly dealing with.” Sleepless in Seattle actress, who will be 64 this year, recalled the times feelings of pressure about body image were quite intense.

“For me, the late-night show was not about the set; my biggest worry was, would I look fat? She confided to the platform. The first time I did a talk show, it was Pat Sajak, and people said, ‘You were great.’ I kept wondering, ‘How did I look in that blazer?’ ‘ I wasn’t even thick at the time.”

Rosie O’Donnell Discusses Mounjaro as Other Stars Reveal Side Effects

O’Donnell said she feels physically much “healthier” and “more powerful” now. Rosie isn’t the only celebrity to reveal GLP-1s’ side of things to the public; in fact, some haven’t liked their experiences with these drugs very much at all.
Mayim‍‌‍‍‌ Bialik, who wrote an open and heartfelt piece in June, stated she had resorted to the use of a GLP-1 as an aid in solving her health issues in general. Besides, it turned out that during this time she had serious side effects: explosive, uncontrollable diarrhea and sneezing attacks that occurred with each meal or ‍‌‍‍‌drink. Bialik also mentioned that she had problems with cramping, bloating, and “full-bodied aching.”

Furthermore, in June, Jenny Mollen spoke on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa” podcast that when she was “microdosing” a GLP-1 and also “taking other peptides,” there was an increase in bleeding that she had.

Jenny Mollen Recalls Frightening Health Scare While Using GLP-1

Jenny Mollen shared that she had experiences of heavy bleeding and bleeding so severe that it would need surgical removal (“hemorrhaging”). She also mentioned that, at the time, all of these signs could have pointed “just to a perimenopausal situation.”

Mollen described her estranged husband Jason Biggs as being so upset that she had to get him out in time that he “screamed like a horror film.” She said she had passed out so many times after that and finally ended up in the hospital. Jenny explained why she was on the drugs and also that she’s going through an autoimmune disease and has hyperthyroidism; eventually, she wasn’t able to say why she had bled so much.
“I don’t know if it was the GLP-1 necessarily,” she remarked on that “horrific” episode. I‍‌‍‍‌ think that’s why, because the drug was messing with my hormones. I think if I had kept taking it, it would not have been a problem for ‍‌‍‍‌me. But getting off it and then back on it is what really messed me over.”
