Prince Philip Secretly Fought Pancreatic Cancer for 8 Years
The Duke of Edinburgh had been battling with a form of Prince Philip pancreatic cancer that was not treatable, and this illness was kept away from the public eye for eight years until he died at the age of 99 in April 2021.
It was the author of a British biography and historian, Hugo Vickers, who made this disclosure in his forthcoming book, Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History. Doctors detected a shadow on Philip’s pancreas and subsequently carried out a surgical operation through his stomach, which resulted in confirming the diagnosis of inoperable pancreatic cancer, according to Vickers.

Prince Philip Surprised Everyone When He Came Out of Pancreatic Cancer
Hugo Vickers shares that after Prince Philip was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that cannot be operated on in 2013, it was thought that “he might not be seen in public again.” On the other hand, the Duke “outwitted the pessimists” by making a comeback to public duties.
Shortly after the incident, Philip is said to have undergone light therapy at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk before returning to his royal engagements in the 108th month of 2013.
Until now, Buckingham Palace has not offered any remarks on the matter.
Prince Philip’s Last Days And Passing Peacefully At Windsor Castle
Prince Philip died peacefully at Windsor Castle on April 9, 2021, just two months short of his 100th birthday. The royal family called his passing a “very gentle” one, and the official reason was given as “old age.”
Philip’s biographer, Hugo Vickers, stated that the Duke “simply did not want to live to his 100th birthday” because he was not fond of the publicity such events create.
In his last hours, Philip is said to have died very quietly right after a brief moment of self-sufficiency, going along a corridor with the help of his walking frame to the Oak Room where he got a beer. The following day, after having a bath, he announced to a nurse that he was not feeling well and he then died peacefully.
Vickers remarked that the Duke had been fighting pancreatic cancer for over seven years, which is a significantly long time considering the standard life expectancy for this kind of cancer.
Such reports have come out that the Queen was “not there” when Philip passed away.

Queen Elizabeth’s Feelings About Prince Philip’s Silent Departures and Her Own Death
Hugo Vickers discloses in Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History that Queen Elizabeth was quite annoyed at times by Prince Philip’s tendency of disappearing without a word. Usually, the staff would convey, “His Royal Highness left 20 minutes ago, ” which apparently made her “extremely angry.”
The couple had been husband and wife for more than 70 years. The queen died about 17 months after Philip, on September 8, 2022, aged 96. The cause of death, like her husband’s, was stated as “old age.”
King Charles Grieves the Death of Queen Elizabeth II
King Charles conveyed his deep sorrow through a deeply personal letter when loss of Queen Elizabeth II, his mom, occurred.
” The demise of my dear mother, Her Majesty The Queen is surely the saddest moment for me and all the members of my family, ” he remarked.
” Our hearts go out to the grieving the loss of our most beloved Monarch, a dearly loved Mother at the same time, ” the king said. The King was suffering from a type of cancer for which he did not specify in January 2024. He still was able to recognize the profound loss of the queen and admitted that “I am sure her loss will be profoundly felt not only in the country, but also in the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by many throughout the world.”
United Kingdom plans to observe Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday anniversary on April 21.
